Hey Gang,
One of two coworkers, who I consider a true friend.
He is a christian and though he does not approve of my desision,
he has no problem with being around me and
treats me like a human being.
The problem that I have with him is that he
seems to have a constant problem with the pronoun thing.
It becomes seriously embarassing when
in front of customers, who have no idea,
he has called me him or worse called me by my former name.
To which the customers will usually give me the
RCA pup stare.
I don't know if he is being passive aggressive or
is earnestly having a problem with the pronouns,
due to the fact that though I have been
"full time" for 11 months, He and I have only been
in each others physical presence only a few times.
I have corrected him when he has slipped up
but I don't want to make a huge issue out of this
because I dont want to loose another friend.
At the same time, I need to get the point across
Always Love,
What is his reaction when it's pointed out? Is it apathetic/ambivalent or does he seem apologetic/embarassed? If it's the former, I wouldn't expect it to change.
Melissa
Melissa,
He does apologize and it is genuine.
Maybe it will just take him being exposured to
me being Heather.
Always Love,
Heather Rose
That's a very good sign then. :)
Melissa
I think what I would do is slap him on the arm or hit him with my purse in much the same way a GG would. Not really upset but not letting him getting away with it. All the while doing it with a smile on my face.
"What!?!" SMACK! "You brat!" ;D
Julie
Hi Heatherrose:
I like Julie's "training" idea. Keeping it light hearted (to begin with) will help ease the tension this is causing. Even after a year some of my family slip up and call Steph by her former name, with no malice intended. It's just that they have known her for so long with an other name. But it's rare now.
If this still persists don't answer (?) maybe a way to get the idea across.
