Title: Shopping...
Post by: Jacquelyn on November 09, 2010, 09:49:39 AM
It would almost be an understatement for me to say that I loathe shopping. However, I do enjoy shopping for gifts (Christmas, Birthday, etc.).

Over the weekend I was clearing out some clothes that I don't wear often, and going through some new ones that my grandmother had picked up for me. There were a few items that I didn't really like for me, so I bit the bullet and offered them up to Dan. He looked so nervous, it broke my heart that he thought I was going to laugh at him or mock him. I finally convinced him to try on a blouse, and I could see it reduced his anxiety. I then went through a few more things that I thought he might like, and told him that they could be his. He is so unbelievably shy that I knew he would never ask for something like that without me initiating it. I was scared that he would be embarrassed or think I was weird for offering, but he didn't. :)

After I left work yesterday I ran to Kohl's. He has a very long torso, so he has difficulty finding shirts that fit him lengthwise, so I went in search of some. I ended up picking him up some thick strapped tank tops, a pair of leggings (which he didn't like how they fit), and some pj's. I surprised him with them when he got home from school. It felt good to get him those things because I knew that they would make him happy. With this change I guess I am overcoming more than I thought... Who knew, I might like shopping after all.

It may be a good way for both of you to share in the shopping experience.  For Dan, a chance to learn about colors and outfit matching.  For you, you can learn more about his tastes and the person he will evolve into.

Thanks Janet- I suggested we go out together, and he said he would like that. And don't be fooled- Dan knows his colors and patterns. :D He has a great sense of fashion, he always has.

For the time being he just wants some things to wear at home. He is dreadfully shy, and I doubt he'd even cross dress in public on a holiday like Halloween or for any other get together that might call for him to be free to cross dress without scrutiny. But, that's his choice, I'm not going to encourage or discourage him in either way. He has to figure out where his comfort zones are and explore around the outskirts of them in his own time.  :)

Hey, it's good to see that you are dealing with it!  =)
I'm happy for both of you, really. It's nice to see a special one helping his partner like you're doing  ^..^
About shopping... I must do this with my partner someday! But we never walk alone... There's always a friend with us, so i can't "play", going through the female section and asking him what does he likes...
No, he's not a MtF... Or at least, he say he isn't. But would like to wear woman's clothings, sometimes, because he used to do it when he was a child and liked it. I want to know him more, just like you're doing  =)

I'm interested to see how he will be in that setting, as I said he is unbelievably shy. I feel like it will be good for him to get out of his shell a bit.

It's a little difficult finding things that fit him though. He's about 6'4" but slender. He has broad and well defined shoulders, a long torso, and narrow hips. We'll figure it out though.  ;D

And Flam, it's great that you want to indulge his needs too! I'm learning more about my SO, and I couldn't love him any more!

I'm nervous because he has and always has had a better sense of fashion than me. LOL
