Title: My local Red Cross acknowledges 3rd gender!
Post by: rite_of_inversion on November 19, 2010, 09:11:16 PM
My local Red Cross took a survey of who was taking their CPR for the pro rescuer class...just a demographics sheet.
But on that sheet their gender column had 3 boxes, male, female AND OTHER!
I thought this totally ROCKED!!!

...Although I marked BOTH female and other...since I'm biofemale, and androgyne with a female bent.  But maybe there's more openness to acknowledge the existence of nonbinary gender people than I really realize....and that is just cool!

I sorta have a problem with other. I am not other, I'm male. Not my fault all the body parts don't look or work right.

I am with Rite of Inversion: I think an "other" choice rocks. I may check "m" or "f" but I like there being a choice.

I think it's good and a great step forward to have an "other" choice for those who identify as "other," but wouldn't use it myself and would be upset if someone suggested I should.
