Title: Crossdressers on CSI Las Vegas.
Post by: lilacwoman on November 22, 2010, 01:55:26 PM
CSI on now has story line of casino being robbed by three CDs who are then all found dead.
Lots of almost-transphobic comments in first 3/4 of episode.
Final scene is policeman did the shooting.
So basically the CDs were only in for titillation as the story coudl just have easily run with three ordinary robbers hitting the casino.

CSI has done episodes on trans victims that were pretty well done.  So they tossed in some comic relief, that's TV.

I think it is sad that TV in general is unwilling to portray trans people in positive roles such as heros or better yet just normal mainstream characters. Instead, the only time we appear are in either of two roles: as the victim (usually who is killed) or as a criminal or crazy person who is the perpetrator and of course villan of the storyline. I don't think these portrayals are helpful at all. I switched off my TV set years ago.

First you're invisible, then you're a villain, then your crazy, then your comic relief and finally you're boring as watching paint dry, 'twas ever thus.
