I know I don't exactly post here a lot, but I thought I'd share anyway. ;)
I gave myself my first shot last night, and now I understand why sticking the needle in fast is so important. It took me 45 minutes to work up the nerve to stick myself, and when I finally did it I freaked out and slowed down and only got the needle in half way. I had to push it the rest of the way in, OUCH!
Regardless, it doesn't hurt at all now, and I'm glad I finally got it. My endo was giving me the impression that she wasn't going to write me the prescription (apparently my therapist thinks I'm too shy to be a man or something? ???)
Oh well, it's mine now ;D
Congrats on your first shot Brendon! I'll keep what you said in mind when I have to do my own first one because that does sound painful. Too shy to be a man, that does sound odd. There are a lot of shy men in the world. Weird but hey congrats! ;D
Congrats man! :D
LOL, that sounds like something I'll end up doing. I'll try and learn from your pain, brother! And, as siad before I, congradulations, man!
I never put mine in fast. It never hurts past the skin.
Congrats! Thats one thing i dont ever see my self ever being able to do.. stick myself with a needle. ill have to have friends help because the shot is my only choice.
CONGRATS DUDE!
Now on to act 2 of your life.
Thanks for the congratulations everybody! I'm really excited ;D

I'm kind of jealous that yours don't hurt. Mine was well past the skin, and it stung like none other pushing it through the muscle!
Maybe it's the concept of you know it's being done, so it hurts more. You know what I mean by that..? Like, if you cut yourself and don't know about it it doesn't hurt as bad as if you saw yourself being cut.

Maybe I guess. Felt pretty real though. ;)
LOL, I get you. I have a fear of syringes from a traumatic event when I was a kid. I have gotten to were I can get my blood drawn without a fight or anxiety attack, so I think I'd be ok. It's just letting myself relax a few before doing it. I HATE when you're aat the doc's and they start wanting to rush you, like 'it'll be real quick, just roll up your sleeve nad I'll do it right now' trhat makes it far worse versuses letting my prepare for the shot/injection/blood drawing.
