2007 is just around the corner, and talk around town turns to resolutions that are made and if there is any significant reason for making them. So in that vein I was wondering if any of Susan's members plan on making any resolutions for this New Year.
Steph
Absolutely.
The biggest (and probably the most relevant) is to save about US$1200 per month towards FFS in mid-2008 either in Thailand or the US, maybe Holland. I don't want to go too heavily into debt for this. I've set up automatic transfers into a savings account already... am prepared to make a few temporary sacrifices in order to make this happen.
The other new year resolutions are to do with work, training, and some flat improvements. Also want to lose about 5-7kg (almost a stone).
In 1977 I made a New Years' Resolution that I have kept to this day--
"Never make another New Years' Resolution"
Having said that, I do resolve to do things from time to time. And I find that I can make resolutions any time (and keeping them is almost as hard... ;) )
Do resolve to better yourself. And do use the New Year as an excuse to get started. But please don't save up all the things you wish to resolve until one specific day. It helps to spread them out a little. Changing oneself is a lot like orthodontia -- you need to apply gentle, steady, constant pressure in the desired direction.
As for a resolution I make for myself at this particular time of the year (irrespective of the impending change of year,) I need to get my spending under control. One area: Wardrobe changeover is costly, so I need to start making HUGE use of thrift stores and such.
Karen
My New years resolution is to live a healthier life:
Included in that is leaving El Paso and getting away from my unhealthy liveing situation. and my alchaholic friends. Im trying to quit. and my drugadict band... we all beat the drugs years ago.... why they are all going back I dont know but I cant be around that kind of thing..
Also included is finding a new job, one that dosnt stress me out to the point of being totaly brainfried...
Working out on a regular basis.... if I reduce the stress I'll have to keep my wonderful figure the hard way LoL.
and the list goes on and on :)
AHHHHHH To quit drinking (saying this with screw driver in hand), to care about and see to my physical health once again. <sigh>
I have no resolutions. But I do plan to work less and do more of the things that interest me. I have music on my mind right now, so I want to spend a lot of time there learning how to play an instrument that I never really learned to play many years ago. I'm setting up a room for the instruments and for recording for personal use. I'd be thrilled to get a student or two.
I want to get out and enjoy my "outside" more. I've got lots to enjoy living close to one of the big national parks. I do miss hikiing terribly.
I'm looking forward to a pleasant and low key year!

LOL ;D...hey SpaceKat, if you haven't noticed, I haven't posted anything under
that thread for a long time, and I don't think I will....just to be at peace with everyone here. But perhaps you can help me convert all those sinners to catholicism.... ;)
Lose 300 pounds? if you lose that much weight, your spirit will remain floating on the air by itself, sweetie! what are you talking about?
DD implants --- now, this sounds exciting........I'm just getting a C cup this time, but who knows, perhaps I will get a G cup in the future....I can't let any other woman be
more TS than I.....LOL ;)

LOL You are so funny. :D
Well, my new years resolution last year was to start HRT. I did that starting in the second month. For this year, my resolution is to save up the deposit amount (or more) for SRS and get a surgery date set. I think I can do this fairly easily.

Okay - here's a couple
For our summer vacation we would like to hit the Oprah, The View and Dr. Phil if only for the free stuff...... :D

LOL, funny thing, I just got home from the doctor and finally getting my HRT prescriptions... and had the TV on while posting about it... I hear the word "gender" mentioned, so I turn up the sound and see
The View is on...
And they're talking about transsexualism, and the new TS character on All My Children, etc. They actually did a pretty good job quickly explaining all this in overview.
These are our resolutions:
To make a lasting peace with each other (for JR and Jillieann to become good friends) and we are working on it.
To lose all the weight we are gaining over the Holidays plus another 8 to 10 lbs.
To not let fear control us as It has in the pass.
We think that enough for now.
:) :)

Resolution: that by the next New Year I will legally and socially be Kate.
To get rid of depression and enjoy my cycling.

I think it would be more of a challenge for you to NOT do it. ;) You already know it's going to happen without you even trying.

Gill, if you find out what day Oprah is giving things out free, I will join you. Dr. Phil gave out a lot of free things to the people who worked and lived in the New Orleans area.

To get a story published in hard print.
To get myself solvent.
To get my kids into counseling.
To begin the necessary prep work to start transitioning to full time.
Chaunte
So far I have kept my resolutions from last year: lose weight (lost 50 pounds to date), get laser treatments (just had my sixth session and my face is about 95% hairless), and continue with therapy (still going).
Resolutions for the new year are:
Continue to lose weight (about 10 pounds to go)
Begin HRT
Start electro for the grey hairs and stubborn black ones
Love my wife and pray she continues to adjust to the ongoing changes
That's it for me.

Hey peeps, there are some fab resolutions in there - hope everyone achieves them.
Not much on mine am afraid ...
1. Get a social life - Sitting at home doing nothing it getting kinda depressing, so have got a few things planned to get me out and about a bit more next year.
2. Decorate my house - The wobbly floorboards and undecorated rooms will be a thing of the past.
3. Learn to drive - Going to depend on money but being mobile would be fab !!
Becky
xx
OK, here's a go:
1. Get my garage cleaned out (yuck!)
2. Get back to writing more music and finish recording the ones I've been working on
3. Lose the last 7 pounds I need to lose to be at my ideal weight (yay!)
4. Make regular appointments with my counselor (the first one was helpful)
5. Continue taking steps to enjoy my gender, including an outing with others
LoL, If Tink got those G sized implants she may not be able to fly, but she would sure float >:D
Im going to answer this for Bri, but neither of us are really cat people.... Im mildly alergic to them and I think she is just anoyed with them in general.... So am I after my mom keeping an average of 30 in the house at all times despite her being alergic and my being the same *shrugs*
Bri.... If you want to take me on your death run Im going to have to take you on a death walk and let Danzig drag you half way around the mountians heheheheheh ;D
My dog is just like me, he wears eyeliner *Hugs*
OMG. I am totally disorganized Kaos!
Nothing yet? Only a few days left to go and nothing yet?
Ugghhhh
Tink i like the dd idea, very sheik!

My new years resolution is 0. I don't as a rule make any resolutions because I can't keep them. I do set goals for myself and one of them is to find a decent job I can like and be succesful at. Other goals I have;
Lose weight
be at peace with myself
be honest with myself, and others
save money as much as possible
get organized, clean out unessesary items I don't
use, or need.
Continue to be feminine as possible
Find a good gender therepist that do'es cost so much, I know along shot but worth it in the long run.
Thats all I can think of at the moment. I have found that setting goals is better than just making resolutions. That has happened in every year past I make up a list and never act out on them. Last year I set a goal that I would research ->-bleeped-<- to address my gender issue. I reacessed my self with regards to my ever present and overwhelming feelings and after searching around found Susan's. I joined soon after and have been here since. I have done a lot of research on a lot of topics concerning transgender and hormones, and SRS both here at Susan's, and on other sites devoted to this subject. It has been an interesting and enlightening year. I found things about myself long dorment come to the surface. Some pleasant and some not so pleasant. I hope to move forward into the new year with lots of hope, ambition, and drive to better times.
I've rambled on long enouph...

I would say no but then again everything I say is a lie.
have fun :D
helen
Drop 60lbs... and i MIGHT be happy
but my resolution includes some strict guidelines...
No red meat
Runs daily
50 situps a day
no fast food
very little alcohol
lots of cafine ;D
Learn electric guitar
and to go ft this year...
1. Get a Styling Head and practice different hair styling methods.
2. Learn Makeup applications for different styles (glamour, wedding, classic hollywood, dark gothic, natural beauty, etc)
3. Trim about 4 to 5 inches off the waist.
4. Do something a little more natural about my hair.
1. Lose weight
2. Learn to play the piano
3. Make it to the next new year.
1. Get some more therapy with a specialist this time.
2. Learn to drive.
3. Get a job.
4. Amass as much money as possible.
5. Lose 5 - 10 pounds.
6. Learn how to play electric guitar better.
7. Get some decent grades.
8. Sort/throw all the junk in my room out.
9. Be more patient & a better listener.
10. Become a better public speaker & teamworker.
Nope.
Everything I need to do I want to do and am doing, there is no need to make any resolutions.
New Year's Day I was sitting on the beach in Mexico with my mother. I kept going back to the bar and coming back with a different drink. Mum said "what are you doing?" (I'm usually just a beer drinker). I said "I'm going to have one of everything on the menu."
She said, "you ought to make some New Years Resolutions". I said, "that is my New Year's Resolution".
Unfortunately, the fourth drink on the list, some godawfully sweet concoction with tequila and amaretto in it and the discovery that the menu had two pages made me reconsider that particular resolution. Some of the drinks, I should add, are non-alcoholic and two of the four I'd had at that point were.
So I've broken my first resolution already. The only other one I have is to drop some weight.
Dennis
I think that's okay Dennis figure this most of the resolutions are sort of made to be broken.
Mixing all that booze will drive a morning after headache though!
Hey at least it wasn't a sushi bar with 40 menu items and you were not trying to eat everyone.. You'd grow gills... :o
Ricki
to forget every resolution i made last year and the years before that.
Hmm, I think I have discovered a means to accomplish my resolution pretty quickly now. :)
