I've been really frustrated lately with my hair. I got it chopped around Halloween and it's the shortest it's been in years. And I realized that I really just don't like short hair on me. Now I'm in that situation where I just have to wait it out. So yes, I started this thread just to complain about hair!
I hear hair grows faster if you watch it grow.
honestly, that's how i feel every time i cut my hair short. Best seems to be just past ears for me
ive heard that using the horse shampoo helps it grow, ive seen it at the store before as well, idk if its true or not though.
I'm sorry man, I'm the exact opposite. My hair is never short enough. I've heard that prenatal vitamins give faster hair growth but it also speeds up nail growth and well most trans guys probably don't want to take something that says prenatal but I figured I would mention it. My mom used to swear by it and her hair grew pretty fast when she took them.
My barber takes prenatal vitamins...
lol yea im the opposite too lately, my hair has been growing like crazy and I hate it, I get an awesome haircut and then it grows and looks stupid and I need another cut
Lately, the longest I want my hair to get is 1/4 of an inch. I tried to cut it to that length but by keeping my hair short I've realized it grows very fast. I've now started cutting it to 1/8 of an inch so instead of getting pissed off with my hair every 2 weeks I can wait a whopping 3 weeks before having to cut it back down again. :P
probably the wrong time to say this but this is the longest my hairs been in.... probably ever actually. T has made it curly and I'm in love with it.
Lions Mane! :D
I really hate when that happens though.. My last hair cut [or maybe the one before that....] The lady must have thought that I had been sent in by my mom for a haircut or something. I told her I wanted about an inch to an inch and a half off of my bangs down to my mouth hair and it got cropped to my eyebrows. I was pissed. I hate not having the ability to at least slightly hide behind my hair.... it makes me really nervous for some reason.
Yeah personally I think longer hair is better for passing, as short hair emphasises the shape of your head, which is different for men and women.
just look at the guys from the 60s and 70s, it was fine for them :D

Mane n Tail is horse/dog/human shampoo, not even kidding, has instructions for all of them on the bottle and it's a huge bottle for five bucks, they have conditioner too...It doesn't smell girly or anything so I like main and tail. May not be a woman but I like my hair to be healthy....I would suggest this.
Ya Im also the opposite, I feel like I need another haircut every single week! It sucks because it just seems to grow so fast and I dont have an extra 20/wk just to be droppin on haircuts. When I had longer hair, I swear I got it cut maybe once a year, and it barely grew!
I have to admit that having short hair is more comfortable for me a lot of the time, but it brings out my female features and I end up missing being able to actually grab my hair. :-\
So yeah, I like to keep it kinda shaggy. I cut it too short last time so I'm waiting for it to grow out a bit.
I prefer my hair longer but I don't pass at all if my hair's over a couple of inches.
I guess I'm the mountain man type then, I never cut my hair or shave. It would probably help if I could grow hair at least somewhere.
I love my hair medium/longish (kind of how it is now), but want to try something new. However, I do not pass if it's super long or a lot shorter than it is right now :/. I'm waiting till T starts to really kick in before I start to drastically change my hairstyle, cause I'd love to have it short for a while and then grow it out extremely long :P (I enjoy hair of all lengths, and get bored easily).
aww, don't worry it will grow back C:
I'm the other way, shorty short, and since I'm out to my barber (whos a friend) he has not to much trouble doing it while making me look like a guy. All the rest of the barbers I'v tried seem to be on a mission to girly me up ,ugh.
I have heard the thing about the horse shampoo stuff before!
I used to have super short hair for years but since I can't grow sideburns or a real beard it was always a big tip off. The last 4 years or so I'd been going for the shag look and it worked well I think, so I guess I'll just stick with that for awhile once I get some of the length back :)
I remember when a well meaning hairdresser decided to give me a pixie cut... which I agreed to because I wanted to try it short. Apparently, I cannot pass if my forehead is exposed too much, and the shortness emphasised that from the side, I have a huge head in proportion to my neck. Basically, I looked like an anime character and more female than when I had shoulder length hair.
Now I have my hair collar length in the back, just a bit shorter than halfway up my ears, and eyebrow length bangs. This is the best passing length for me - I might go a bit shorter, but not much. Besides, I have mad cowlicks that make my hair spike naturally at multiple places when it's too short. So... yeah, sorry to hear about the bad cut. :-\
I'm the opposite. My hair goes ridiculously fast. I used to go through these cycles, where I'd cut it all off (sometimes to a boys' cut, sometimes down to my chin) and then feel guilty and grow it back out to my waist/butt and then get mad and cut it all off again, all in the space of 2-3 years. It grows at least an inch a month. I get the sides tapered down to the skin when I get it cut now, and 2 weeks later it's 1/2 an inch long and turning into a puffball again.

same thing for me! i need to invest in my own clippers or something, because going to get my hair cut every month is getting pricey. basically if my hair is over an inch long, i freak out. an inch is way too long for me.
