Just wondering, can you get top/bottom surgery right away? Or do you need a certain amount of therapy first? Because for top surgery, for me, money is not an issue. And I'd like to get it done right away if possible. I mean I don't plan on transitioning for a couple other years anyways but when the time comes, I figured I'd get the surgery asap. So can you? If not I think I asked this before but the answers were all different...how much therapy do you need before you CAN get surgery? ???
Some doctors will do informed consent (no therapy), but most will require two letters unless I'm mistaken. According to the US APA you need to be seen for 3 months and then your therapist can write you a letter. So it's either 3 months minimum of therapy, or informed consent if you can find a doctor willing.
I went to therapy for 4 months for my T letter. I had to go back once to get my letter for surgery because I hadn't been to therapy for over 9 months. I could have gotten it right away if money hadn't been a problem.
Every doctor is different so I would call the doctor and ask or look at their website. I am going to Garramone for surgery and I just sent in a letter from my physician saying surgery was the next step in my transition. I've never gone to therapy.
