Title: Question about T.
Post by: Vince1995 on December 23, 2010, 08:19:11 PM
I have a question about T.

Uhm when you are going to start it, do you HAVE to inject, or is there another way to do it? Cause I am deathly afraid of needles. ):

Injections are the cheapest and most effective way, I believe, but there are also patches and creams or gel too. And I think there are pills too. I might be wrong.

Pills will destroy your liver. Patches, according to my doctor, are not as effective. Gel is effective but expensive. I am looking into a compounded gel/cream to see if it is more cost effective. There are also T pelleted implants which are a bit less than the gel and last for 3-4 months.

No, but the other routes are typically more expensive, I believe.

Injection is the most effective route of administration. There are oral forms but yes they are liver toxic and/or not as effective (like testosterone undecanoate for example). Injections can be made less painfull by choice of needle gauge.
Just think yourself fortunate and are not diabetic, type 1's have to inject themselves several times a day. A test shot every week or two is no big deal in comparisson. Trust me I used to be completely terrified of needles....you get used to it, strangely enough.............

I don't really know anyone who likes puting needles in their body, to be honest. Taking the gel is a *daily* commitment.  Besides the higher cost, it also affects when you can shower or get wet, and you have to take precautions around other people (women & children particularly) and pets. It is a major hassle. Many people are surprised to discover that gel isn't "apply & go" easy.

What I recommend is that anyone start on injections, and if you don't get used to it, or if it gets increasingly more anxiety-producing for you, then switch to gel.

To desensitize myself, I started watching "how to inject" videos on you tube. It didn't make me great with the process, but I learned to stop cringing, wincing, and looking away, at least. For some reason, my dr. didn't want me self-injecting with my eyes closed. Go figure.  ;D

It helped a little. I'm still not at the "doesn't bug me at all" phase yet. I hope to get there soon.

I was deathly afraid of needles before I started taking T too. I have been on hormones now for 2 years and have had a girlfriend who gave me my shot every week. We just recently broke up and now I am having to give myself my shots. It's a challenge but some how you will find a way to get it done.

Injections are the safest way to take testosterone.  Test-enthe or cypt are the main choices......both are oil based.  I inject in my thighs.  I do use other forms of test.....orally when I cycle to either increase mass or a cutting cycle.  I would not recommend just using oral test.....bad for your liver....if u do then take milk thistle and do a liver cleanse.  With oral test say you take so many mgs...by the time it passes thru your system you might get far less test.  With injections......it doesn't pass thru it goes directly into the muscle.
