I have given and have been given more hugs in this last couple of months than in my whole lifetime.
I have always been the type, too afraid to show emotions. Plus I was afraid people would think of me as too feminine. So only people very close to me have gotten hugs from me. It is sad because there has been many times that I did want a hug or wanted to give one but I never allowed myself to do that. I know people and relatives have thought I was rude and inconsiderate because of this.
I LOVE TO GIVE HUGS NOW !!! I don't know maybe I am making up for lost time? I just love to give and get hugs, now. Not the wimpy kind either. The tight and long, really good feeling type. Sometimes I just have to go for seconds or thirds right in a row.
It's funny what being happy with yourself can do for you.
So when I put hugs at the bottom of my posts. Know that I truly mean it. :)
I can't be with you all in person, but I want to give all my friends here at Susan's A BIG TIGHT HUG !! and to you out there that I haven't had the chance to meet, if you were here with me right now. I would give you the same big hug. :-*
Merry Christmas, Lot of Love and HUGS !!!! Roxy :)
Oh so your all touchy feely huh
ME TOO HUGS
I've never been a hug type of person in real life but I love to give E-hugs so
:icon_hug: :icon_hug: :icon_hug:

I'm the same way Roxy. When I sign a post with hugs I really and truly mean it. Merry Christmas.
Hugs to you and Patty.
Beth
Prior to transition the only person who got hugs from me was Sevan.
I was not a touchy feely type. I hated everyone, why would I want to hug them?

That new avatar of yours Cynthia is pretty. I know whos house I want to go to for dinner.
Hugs (and I mean it), Roxy
Why thank you. And yes my table is the place to dine. Before I became disabled I was a chef.
:)
edit: oh yeah....Sevan makes my aprons.
Erocse, swing by here and we will both go give Little Suzy Homemaker ( ah ... Cynthia ) hugs in person.
Next time I am in Portland we must get togather for a coffee.
Well on the subject of hugs - I love them and cuddles too - at every available opportunity. I always have.
Meanwhile on the subject of food I think on the contrary that you should all come over to Cornwall and sample Alison's magnificent fare. She can't match Cynthia for qualifications I have no doubt... but I reckon she could still give her a run for her money on results...
How else do you think I got to be so ample curvy and cuddly? Before I met her I was slim.
...and then there is the fact that I too have been known to knock up the odd dish myself - like my famous chocolate cakes that Janet has drooled over on the webcam. ;D
Hugs are great. I love to give them and recieve them too. Like Roxy said a great big tight hugs are the best.
Cynthia, Janet, Jenny, and Allison I imagine a party with all of us together would be great!! Cornwall sounds like a fun place to go too. :) Portland is beautiful too. Wish money was never a matter of concern and we all could just do it. :)
Janet & Cynthia we will all have to get together for coffee in Portland. Janet will have to bring LacyLynne even if it means dragging her out the front door. Ha ha. :).
~Hugs~
Patty
Sounds like I need to make some social calls around dinner time.
Roxy, it's always nice to hear how much you're opening up.
Unfortunately, I'm a bit lacking in the spontaneous hug department unless I know for certain that people won't freak when I give them hugs (I'm a very intimidating dude, apparently).
The friends that I hug and cuddle can contest though that I'm good at both. I love receiving them too as long as no one attempts to tackle me while hugging. XD
*hugs everyone in the immediate vicinity online since he isn't near anyone from this amazing forum right now*
I never used to be a hugger, but now I am. Strange things the 'mones.
Hugs to all
Cindy
I've always been a hugs sort, though had to temper it because society doesn't think men should be so expressive.
But the biggest hugs to Patsy and Roxy. Two of natures lovely people.

As a stodgy British friend of mine may say, "Quite."
Roxy, I'm happy for you, too.
Patty, you are the best friend Roxy or any of us could ever have.
Even More Hugs
Susan
As I've worked through self-acceptance over the last few years I've found myself more huggie as well. I'm not full time, nor do I go out en femme - but I am allowing myself to be a more authentic human being. I've found I'm not so afraid of crying anymore, I'm not afraid to show affection (like hugging) even to my guy friends.
I used to be so much more reserved about this, but I think starting to come to terms with who I am, and being willing to accept it (well, still working on total acceptance :) ) has really helped me open up and experience my feelings more. I'm not even on E yet.
I have always been a hugger but in the last few months the physical contact of a hug seems even much better! ;D
hi roxy
a hug from a friend will say more than thousend words.
so i wish i was in portland now to collect my hugs from you and patty
hugs(very big one)
and i mean it too
annette
Hugs are quite funny- as Annette said they can express so much without saying anything. I am a big hugger. I grew up in a very huggy family- the opposite of my SO. However, no matter how down I am a simple hug from him makes my day all better. :D
One of the biggest protesters of my affection is my 7 year old brother- he is in that phase where cooties are real and I might as well run a dagger thru this chest if I try to hug him in front of his friends. Hahahaha.

OMG, Roxy, thanks for the tipoff! I have avatars and signatures turned off, because sometimes the wife or kids walk by while I'm on here. Annette - you're even more beautiful than I thought!
Roxy and Colleen, thank you for the kind words but you make me blush a little.
Colleen i know you never hand out compliments for no reason and I really feel flattered but when it comes to looks I'm a bit shy.
The picture was taken this year on amsterdam airport just for leaving to Toronto.
Beautifull people are the ones who can make a difference in the way that other people are feeling by giving them comfort or make them happy.
So I can say that I'm blessed with beautifull people around me like you.
Kind, warm, friendly and supporting persons, so you are real beauties.
and Roxy, give my love to Patty ( and no need to say that you're prettier with every new avatar)
Happy newyear dear friends
love

Aww... thanks, sweetie. I hope I can look as nice as you when I've been on HRT a while. And if you ever come to Toronto again, please let me know, and I'll get all my friends together and meet you at the airport! And we'll have a fantastic time!
Some one say hugs.
Count me in.
Really I love to hug and get hugs.
I grew-up in a family that never hugged.
Or even said I love you.
But now I can't wait to hug my family and friends.
I so agree with Annette
Quotea hug from a friend will say more than thousend words.
By the way Annette your new avatar is the best.
I just love your smile.
Hugs,
Jillieann
Thanks Roxy for starting this post. Hugs are wonderful and needed. (give and recieve)
And Patty I agree, we need to all get together sometime for a great time....!!! :)
Hugs to all, Christy
Christy a party sounds like fun!
Happy New Years Everyone!
We hope that 2011 is so awesome for you all that you can't even remember 2010.
Big big hugs.
Patty & Roxy :D
I'm crashing this hugging party!
I love hugs and give them to my friends whenever I can! Like Jillieann my family was never too big on hugs and saying I love you. I want to change that!
Hugs mean a lot to me. It is a very prominent show of affection and most certainly produce favorable endorphins which get this gal through her school days :)
HUGS :)
I always took hugs for granted and never thougt too much about it. My dad wasnt a big hugger but he did give us hugs and we hugged him all the time when we were kids. Even as a teen, i gave hugs to mom and friends all the time.
As a dad, i have ALWAYS hugged my daughters every time I get a chance and they do the same to me and others. I tell them that I love them and hug them many times a day and they do the same to me and others. I have done my best to teach them to express love and affection so I believe it will help them to have better and healthier relationships in the future.
Anyways, gotta go. Kids need a hug! ;-)
colleen
I don't think that anybody can have a warmer welcome in Canada than me.
Thank you,and I let you know when I'm in the neighborhood.
and why worry over being pretty in the future, you look a lovely lady to me allready
a very big hug
Annette
Hugs definitely do release positive brain chemicals - oxytocin, which helps social bonding, and classically referred to as the 'loved hormone'.
Although I suspect I have Aspergers, I've never minded hugs as long as the person aint a stranger. Hugs seem to not be a part of other people's touch issues either.
So When you hug , do you pat or rub ?
I don't know if it is true but, I been told most men pat the back of the person they are hugging, while women rub the back.
I used to pat then without thinking of it sometime back (I don't know when) I started rubbing and sometimes I just squeeze tight.
Hugs and a little rub, Roxy
I'm a squeezer... I like to squeeze tight, and I also like to give a little kiss on the cheek. Not like the French, though (one side, then the other)...
I am a squeezer also.
Love the new avatar Roxy.
I am squeezer too. But I will occasionally rub.
I like to hold the hug for a little time rather than just a quick one.
Jillieann
I tend to squeeze and do a little awkward sway. ;D

That sound fun and very girlie. I am defiantly going to have to give that a try.
Hugs (and a bit of an awkward sway), Roxy :-*
It may stem from being held as a child and rocked by my mom. I never realized it until living with my wife, that I would kind of rock myself to sleep. My wife promptly broke me of that habit! :D
I really like hugs and prefer to be pretty affectionate in general with people I care about.

Contact comfort is life nourishing.
I was trying to find the words to say that. Thank you for this.
My SO was hovering over my shoulder as I was reading/replying to this topic so I just had to give him a hug. :D
I don't think I could live without hugs. Contact comfort is life nourishing.
Sway? I thought that was just a normal part of hugging.
Yep I do it too.
Especially with my grandchildren and they love me right back. ;D
More long hugs with the little sway.
Jillieann
Always been a hugger. However no squeezing for me now. ;D
Aw, come on Val. Let me give you a good squeeze! >:-)
Hugs are important to me and just like Colleen I give a squeeze and a kiss on the cheek to people I like or I didn't see for a while.
I have some co workers i realy like, and when they come back from holiday or something I'll always give them a hug while saying, hey glad you're back, good to see you again.
Some people already spread their arm when they see me because they know what's gonna happend
Now they call me the hugnurse, I think that's an honered title.
stacy, did you change your avatar, you look great, I love that picture, it's so feminine.
hugs
annette
I'm in complete agreement with everyone here. Hugs are a simple way to show someone that you care. Not only that, without a good hug, it makes people feel somewhat disjointed and not wanted. Plus, a great hug can lead to wonderful things. I've never tried the swaying, but sometimes I enjoy giving a mini-massage while I hug sometimes.
Thank you for sharing, Roxy.
