.....affect rather your male or female side is dominate at the moment? That happens to me all the time
Yeah,... sometimes. But its not like, for instance, soft singers/musicians will do that by their self, same with any hard rock stuff will not make me feel one way or the other. But I have noticed that certain songs do have that effect at times. I just mark it up as another weird thing my therapist is going to ask me one of these times. And I'll have to ask her if that's what happens to her. Sometimes the cis answers are more informative than what she thinks I may be thinking :D
Now that I think about it, when it comes to my GD, Joan Jett doing Bad Reputation does have an effect. But, thats pretty universal I think ;)
I tend to reflect rather than affect.
Yeah, but more in a masculine/feminine mindset kind of way. Best not to tell people about the little shifts otherwise they might start thinking they can make you not be trans around them.
girly music can make me act more gay but it doesn't make me feel like a girl
not really.
my dream is to be in a mosh pit in a miniskirt lawlz
Most music it just that music. But certain music hit the girl side. Like anything that is about boy dancing with girl.
I've never had music effect gender mentality, however it does effect my mood massively, but I still feel like me no matter.
Music can change my mood but it doesn't change where my gender sits the only part of my gender that changes noticably (to me) is my emotional responce the male side sometimes needs to be voilent if very angry or hides the the tears of sadness even though the female part needs to express through tears any number of emotions whichever is stronger takes the lead I don't know when I go to see a movie if he will stop her tears. Music that is truely beautiful may cause her to step forward and cause a tear or 2 other things in relation to gender don't change much the balance between the 2 is pretty even and not generally changeable I'm always both with interests from both sides though slightly more fem when you start to assume sterotypes as reality
Music has a powerful effect on behavior, mostly sub-conscienous
A student named David Merrill devised an experiment to discover how music would affect the ability of mice to learn new things. Merrill had one group of mice listen to classical music 24 hours a day and another to heavy metal music. He then timed the mice as they ran through mazes to see if the music affected their speed of learning. Unfortunately, he had to cut the first experiment short because the heavy metal mice all killed one another. In a second experiment, mice that listened to Mozart for 10 hours a day dramatically improved their maze-solving abilities, while the heavy metal mice actually became worse at solving mazes than they had been at the beginning of the experiment.
The mood I am in determines what music I listen to. Music rarely determines my mood. If the music does not fit my mood I change the music, not the mood. I've been listening to female artists a lot lately.

I agree totally with Kendall. When I am in guy mode I rarely listen to music, mostly talk radio-PBS. En fem it's Sarah Brightman, Summer, Heart etc.
Sarah Brightman? I made a great mix of I fell in love with a starship trooper, Donna Summer's I feel love and some Wild Man Fischer - very proud of that.
OMG!!! I wasn't familiar with that song for Sarah Brightman, not on any of my albums. So I went on line to look it up and saw the video. Unbelievable! Her singing has turned 180 degrees. I really like the soprano stuff, english ballads, etc. Thankfully she kept most of the half naked, gyrating dancing boys. Some things (unlike her hair, makeup, and cheesy effects in that 1978 video) just never go out of style. Actually the song wasn't half bad except now it is an "earworm" in my head and I want to watch that video again to learn the moves!
She did other songs?

I agree. I often try to find music with female lead singers, but only because it keeps me focused on my dream of being female.
But I also listen to mostly hard rock music, which is mostly male leads. I have no problem with singing along to Disturbed, for example. The "gender" of music is really just a social construct. Not all guys are tough, and not all girls are dainty, although your TV and movies like to present this as the only option.
I think more "girly" music makes me feel more...effeminate, rather than female. In fact, I think I might feel more male listening to happy, dancy music. I typically listen to bands that aren't particularly masculine or feminine (my favorite bands are AFI, Placebo, and My Chemical Romance...I mean, look at the singers :-*).
