Hello all,
Next week is my CD partner's birthday and I want to buy him a new wig. His old one is extremely cheap bought for $4 on ebay. I thought we could improve things if I got him a wig that actually complimented him.

This is Caitlyn. As you can see it's not a bad presentation but the wig needs to go the way of the dinosaurs. Now he says (I say he because that's how he identifies) that he wants a wig that is similar but perhaps better quality. I think he might be able to do better than that.
I appreciate any suggestions as well as places to buy wigs. Preferably in Chicago or the surrounding areas as we are getting close and I'd rather see it person than buy it on-line.
Thanks!
Is there a Changing Headlines in Chicago? I know there is one in Appleton.
Thanks for the reply.
No the closest one seems to be in Wisconsin which is to far of a trip for me to take.
I have no advice but wow. He almost passes female.
He'll be happy to hear that you said that Cynthia!
It's those lips and that hour glass figure. lol
you look like siblings
(ewww...shakes the image away)
Well, there always is Paula Young (http://www.paulayoung.com/) online.
The advantage for many is that they stock for larger head sizes also, something brick-and-mortar stores seldom do.
Thanks for the site. Seems like a good one.
A really good wig tech (or even a mediocre one) can really do a lot in terms of styling, styles and wig care. Like fashion, what you 'want' may not be what really looks best, and they have some idea along those lines.
There's a zillion hair salons.
How do you find somebody who is actually good with wigs and not just somebody who says that they are?
As far as I know it won't grow out from a bad cut.
Squirrell, your partner looks very sweet in those images. He reminds me of friends I have (female friends). The wig looks a bit fake, but that's it. Your partner makes a cute woman.
I don't know a lot about wigs, so sadly I can't help you.
The best way to get a good wig is to go to a wig shop.
I know that Tekla and I have posted in the past how TG and cancer friendly wig shops are. That is their customer base. Please don't order on line unless you have tried it on and have talked to by someone who knows what they are talking about. The shops totally understand and will not embaress anyone, otherwise they loose $500 and not $4. Is a good wig worth the money? Is a bad wig worth ridicule? If you think hard, most woman pride their hair as the feature that presents their face. Hair is the basic to your look.

I've ordered from wigs.com a couple of times. They have a large selection and occasional sales, Usually free shipping for over $49. Lots of accessories. I favor the Raquel Welch wigs that you can use a curling iron or straightener with.
