Title: Can't contact my dr! :(
Post by: Britney♥Bieber on January 04, 2011, 04:47:15 PM
So as some of you may know my dr is the dr at a planned parenthood about 30 minutes from my house. I saw her september 29th and I got my script took blood etc I started on the october 1rst and saw her again at the end of october. Then she told me to call early january to make a follow up for the end of the month and I tried calling the number and it says the call can not be completed as dialed! What am I going to do? I'm freaking out and omg :( I only have two more refills on my script so what if I never get in touch with the dr? Omg I can't afford a ~real~ dr. She's real but like she saw me for free cuz it's planned parenthood. :( :( :(

First of all "DON"T PANIC".  Double check that you dialed right and if need be look it up in the phone book.  Or online.  If you have to just go there and get the number and make an appointment.

Ok so i finally got through. Jan 31rst! :D Now I feel kinda silly. I don't know why they weren't going through at first. =/

SO...what should I expect on my third appointment? Anything special?

They may take blood again and adjust your meds.

Nope, not unless something is wrong. There's not much to the trans branch of endocrinology other than
1. Check bloods.
2. If bloods are normal, then goto 4.
3. If bloods are abnormal, adjust meds. Goto 1.
4. End.

Sounds normal enough. Do you think she'll prescribe progesterone? I heard it helps breast development, but I don't know when she will or if she even will etc. I hope I can afford it fml =/

Is it fairly cheap going through planned parenthood? I had to contact my endo today about an outstanding bill i just recieved because i think they billed the insurance with the wrong code. The bill came from quest diagnostics for $250.83 for bloodwork done last march. The 1st time bloodwork was taken went through just fine.

I think your at the point now where she could prescribe you progesterone, i did after the 1st three months. are you already on t-blockers?

I've been on estradiol and spiro for three months, it'll be four by the time I see her next. And so far for my first two appointments it's been free because of some trans grant that payed. They just asked if I'd like to make a donation towards it. Didn't have the money. I meant I hope I can afford the progesterone though

If the doctor prescribes it for you i don't see why it wouldn't be covered either! I hope everything works out for you!!! Iv'e been fortunate to have excellent insurance that covers everything fairly well. I knoticed that walking into a walgreens or lets just say a drugstore to fill a script is so freakin high, i use this mail order co through my insurance and it's a hell of alot cheaper. The only draw back is waiting right till the end of your supply and reordering. I'm out of fin and spiro right now and it wont be in till friday :(

I have to pay for the meds she prscribes. I can afford the e for 8$ at walmart, but the spiro is ridiculous I get it the cheapest through my friends dad, he buys it for me at a small pharmacy at the lowest price. I don't have insurance though :'(

Oh wow, i'm sorry to hear that. It can get quite expensive without insurance. Today my refill on fin/spiro was $3o shipped. My depression meds are the ones that are expensive :'( which i stopped taking 3 months ago for other reasons.

My endo pointed out that progesterone can actually inhibit early breast development and should be left until later on when the breasts are reasonably developed already from E.

Yeah California. I have no idea, I'm oblivious when it comes to insurance except I know I'm not covered by my dads because I'm not a full time student. Who knows though. =/

I'm 3+ years on HRT and only now considering adding progesterone.
However, I have an agreement with my fiancé that if it makes me crazy(ier) that I'm gonna stop taking it  :D

Bank loan was how I paid for mine. The great thing about a name change over here in NZ is that it clears your credit rating  :D

Awesome :D Have you heard of dr saran in thailand? he's pretty cheap and his results look good. I think I read that he worked with preecha for 10 years. But the low price makes me think less good results but I'd rather pay 8 than 20 k =/

and idk like anything about boys, how many of them are willing to look past my you know what? Like even if guys do take an interest in me I'm scared about that

Come on Britney - don't worry. Vexing and I have both posted our experiences on that point in other threads already.

The answer is that some boys won't, but enough will. You only need one you know...  ;D It might just take a little practice and a few let downs before you find the right one, and then there always women too (if you are bi)

Think of it this way:
You get told that you are only allowed to drive one car for the rest of your life. One car. You can never drive any other car, ever.
Now, do you choose a puke green, seventh hand Skoda Capri that was previously owned by a single mother with vomity kids, or do you choose a brand spanking new hotrod red Subaru Impreza WRX? (I had to google that name btw)
The Skoda only costs $800, but the WRX costs $30,000.
Which would you choose?
Remember, you have to drive it for the rest of your life.

Hi Britney

I am glad everything has worked out with your doctor.

I concur with Vexing's comments on progestorone, the research i have done would indicate that waiting until you have good breast development first before starting.

I have done some research on several of the dr's in Thailand and Dr Saran has a pretty good name i believe, i know of one girl who had grs with him last year and is extremely happy with the result.  Of course Suporn is hard to og past as he is pretty much the best.  But don't take my word for it, make sure you do you own research  :)

Britney wanting to add progesterone to estradiol and spiro may not be the best way forwards as you need to remember you are trying to mimic natural female development that spreads over several years.

Well I don't know much about what happens hormonally tbh. I just read about girls getting progesterone and wasn't sure when. lol. I mean I'm not gonna beg my dr for it, I'm gonna listen to what she says, she's done this before haha.

For what it is worth I went on progesterone quite early on in my regimen.

I think it definitely does help, but it isn't critical in the first few months.

Progesterone was added to my regime about two years in.  I have notice that I am still developing and filling out.

I think it does help, but only after you have the first growth.

I've heard the other side of the argument as well, that adding P almost immediately is ideal because the first year or two is when the most rapid development occurs, and adding P to that would accelerate it and possibly mitigate some of the negative effects of E when we're taking our highest doses of it. It seems like with P there are always solid arguments for both sides.
