Hi, I was just wondering if anyone had any advice on hair removal. I just recently started shaving most of my body hair away, however the results have been very poor. I know wax can be a good way to get rid of body hair, and have also heard of products like nair but I also have sensitive skin, and acne on my chest. I am afraid if I use the wrong product I will break out in a rash. I am so self consious atm since I have just started taking care of myself after a few years of neglect at college and never really doing anything before to get rid of it. I curious to know how I can get smooth clear skin before I am able to start HRT. I cannot be shaving my chest every 2 days and it grows back almost like stubble. It is so gross. I also have stretch marks on my stomach from weight gain over the last few years. I am dieting now and am starting to lose weight which is a definate plus. But I want to be able to have nice smooth skin. Or at the very least better than it is now.
Have you considered laser? I have had laser on my chest and armpits and I only have to shave them about once or twice a week now and they no longer get all irritated when I shave them.
Yes I have. However I do not have a lot of money, and am looking for something more for the short term ie next 6 months. I will have lazer or electrolisis eventually. But right now I am just coming out of the closet to a few people. I'm not at the point yet where I can fully transition.
For a low cost at home solution, wax may be preferable to the chemical hair removers. Sally Hansen sells a cold wax kit that works quite well.

Waxing would be your best bet. If you can afford it buy a decent epilator to maintain it after the initial waxing. It will end up saving you a lot of money.
If you are pre hrt spearmint is your best friend.

Spearmint has a chemical that is an androgen blocker in your bodies hair folices.
It works on body hair most efficiantly. Facial hair it will slow down the growth but not prevent it.
This is not a wives tale. It works and it works very well for some of us. Before I started drinking the tea on a regular basis I was contemplating hair removal. Now I just shave it every once and awhile.
Google Spearmint and hair reduction if you doubt me.
