Title: decreasing T
Post by: s1ncere on January 14, 2011, 04:17:13 AM
I had my follow up visit the other day....the nurse practitioner said my hemoglobin was a little high and wants to lower my T dose.but my visit before that, the doctor told me that they will keep me on my dose and wouldn't increase it bc its high.they are both referring to the same blood work.so I'm confused.since he lowered my dose will this slow down my changes ?

The short answer is yes, it will slow the changes you see...but you will keep experiencing them.  You should follow up with your doctor about what your nurse said though, I would be reluctant personally to lower my T dosage unless my doctor told me I had to.  It sounds like there was just a lack of communication between the nurse and the doctor there, and the doctor has final say.

I agree with Quicksand, I would try to get ahold of the doctor to find out if he changed his mind.

Decreasing the dose might not necessarily slow down your changes. My dose got cut in half because a few of my levels were too high and my changes sped up. Those are the things you will have to talk about and manage with your doctor though.

I have heard that if you levels are too high that it will covert to estrogen ... so decreasing might actually get the T to work

exactly, excess testosterone aromatizes to estrogen basically counteracting the T that you are getting and slowing down changes.
