Console — sorry, is this favourite consoles, or consoles owned? My favourite's probably a toss up between the Game Boy Color and Dreamcast. The N64 was great too!
favourite game — Don't think I could choose just one, but just off the top of my head (in no particular order) Pokémon Silver, Silent Hill 2, Banjo-Kazooie, Resident Evil 4 and Shenmue/Shenmue II.
favourite type of game — I'll honestly play virtually anything regardless of genre, as long as it interests me, but generally I tend to go for survival horror, action/adventure, RPGs or platformers.

newest game - None atm, my gaming computer died. My laptop can't play anything and my ex has the PS3.

favourite game - I guess this would be WoW. I played the crap out of it for 5 years. I like MMOs mostly. I also like strategy games like Empire Earth, Civilization, Sim City, Age of Mythology, Age of Empires, Pharaoh, etc.

Motion sensing annoys me too, but you don't use it for the virtual console. You have to buy a Classic Controller (yeah, Nintendo is greedy), plug it into the Wiimote, and play games that way. I think the Genesis games and the NES games have the option for only using the Wiimote though. The Wii uses channels, and you select the Virtual Console, browse through the games, then just hit download. You buy them either through credit card or from puchasing a Wii Points card at a store and putting that information in. It download straight to the Wii but can also go on SD cards.
Just a warning, they don't hardly update the VC anymore, and the Classic Controller isn't all that great for the N64 titles. They have slacked off with the N64 titles too, so it's noticeable smaller than the others. And, I don't know if it was just bad luck on my part or not, but when I had a Wii, the controllers would randomly stop working. It doesn't pause when something happens either. It wasn't the batteries, and we could never figure out what was wrong. It really sucked when it happened.
But you can still ROM if you want. I'm not gonna be a Nazi about it. There's no way they are going to release the whole collection of all the systems they have on the Wii (along with the above controller problem and running out of room on the SD card or whatever). Just make sure you have some kind of limit, like not pirating new games that still need to sell, or games from small companies. But you should consider the legit ones too.
Just my suggestion anyway :D

You can also use a Gamecube controller, if you happen to have one lying around. ;D If not, they're really inexpensive these days, definitely cheaper than that hideous classic controller!

That's why I like traditional controllers. You buy 1, you use it for everything unless you want multiplayer. That makes more sense.

I do completely agree with you — so many controllers and so many wires! The technology for the Wii is such a nice idea, but there just aren't that many games that utilize it correctly. When it's used properly, it really does work quite well, but there are so many otherwise decent games pretty much ruined by unnecessary motion controls that feel shoehorned in.
Ooh, I also hate how the classic controllers have to be plugged into the Wiimote! It's such an utterly ridiculous system and feels so awkward. I get that not everybody likes wires, but why could there not be an option to have it plug directly into the Wii? Would certainly save me a fair few batteries...
Just thought I'd throw my opinion on here. I have a Wii and I think it is lame. The motion control is annoying, I don't like the layout of the controller, and I'm not the biggest nintendo gamer out there. But the Kinect is badass. There aren't a ton of games out yet but there will be eventually and how accurately it tracks motion is eerie.
It is a unique idea, but I just don't want it anymore at all. I wish the fad would hurry and leave. The Kinect won't work. I'm sure it's fun for some games, but I've seen youtube videos of people hacking it and setting it to run with like, Super Mario Brothers and it just doesn't work. A console needs to try it's best to work with everything (and without 3,000 controllers and bits to buy for it). I'm sure if there were better games for the Wii/Move/Kinect, they'd be better, but the whole motion sensing thing ruins it. The Kinect is being brave and all, but meh. I would rather use a joystick and a button to fire and shoot rather than holding an invisible gun and having to "shoot" with my fingers. That's annoying and tiring.
The fad is warping the idea of gamers too. If you go to Target's website and look at Video Games, underneath it says, "A fun way to get fit." :l

agreed. Even House of the Dead wasn't very good on wii. It had potential to be great.
I love my xbox but i won't be getting a Kinect.
I don't mind playing the odd game by motion sensor, but not on my own. Probably just with a few friends having a drink.
I like that the systems are out there though, I've been thinking about building an arcade machine and the options are endless now!

New Vegas has the same engine, and largely the same system, the main plus point I found was the new way to deal with companions. For the rest it feels like I woke up in a slightly larger but also enjoyable expansion of F3 with refurbished animations and new grab to wear. After finishing it however I have decided to pack my giant backpacks again (damn that tent), grab my new robo rex and head back to the wonderful wastelands around the DC ruins. I feel most at home there ...

I don't play video games that much though, I have a somewhat violent temper, and video games can anger me so yeah, I try to only play them when with friends so that it's more fun rather than serious.

I've found the Virtual Console on the Wii to be quite reliable. If you don't like the classic controller, you can play all of the NES games by just turning the Wii Remote sideways.

Really I just prefer those over the others because I like konquest mode and the chess. I liked the new spin it gave while keeping the old. Plus my favorite is Kenshi and I don't remember for sure but I don't think he was in the older games.

Oh I see. I actually liked the 3D ones alongside the 2D ones (most people tend to pick one or the other from what I've seen). They each have a different feel to them. The 2D ones are faster and more intense, but the 3D ones are kinda slower and you have to change your strategies for them. I liked Konquest mode too, never completed any of them though, I should probably fix that :D. But to clear it up for you, Kenshi was introduced in Deadly Alliance ;).
I have an NES, SNES, N64, gamecube, and now a wii [well its my family's... we got it for christmas the others are mine]
I also have an original gameboy [<3 it was a high school grad present] a gameboy color, a game boy advanced, a game boy advanced SP, a broken DS, and a DS lite.
... If you can't tell I'm a Nintendo kid. Very loyal. About all I'm missing is a top-loading NES, a virtual boy, a game boy pocket, and a mini game boy advance.
As far as the newest games I have... we got super mario bros wii for christmas as well as DK country returns, twilight princess for wii [though its long beaten on my gamecube] and a marvel universe game...
At the moment I'm more involved in my phantom hourglass game for the DS [though I've had the game for over a year school and other games distracted me] I'm also enjoying replaying Majora's Mask on my N64.... I'm also slightly Zelda obsessed. ::)
I'm not a huge gamer at the moment, though I plan to expand my (very modest) collection of games this year, and actually finish the ones I start.

Some PC games are really cheap. My mate bought Left for Dead for like $20. Same price for Arkham Asylum. Both great games.
Sorry but I don't know much about downloading modern games. Only games I play on my computer are ROMs for the NES, SNES etc.

You have to take into account the effort it takes to make the game compatible with a PC. It's more complicated than with a console game, hence a bigger price tag.

Nonono, sorry, that isn't what I meant. I meant that PC games are often much cheaper than the console versions, despite being released at the same time :P Sorry, I worded that badly!
If that's the case then I believe it's because they're catering to a brand. Name Brands = $$$. If it's all the same game, then it comes down to what it's being played on. As for PCs, well they're all PCs and the only things they've got are requirements :P
newest game - red dead redemption and scott pilgrim the game (which i think is hilarious)
console - ps3, xbox360, wii, nds, psp, pc. and a crapload of emulators running on the old xbox. not enough space for all the vintage goodies ;D
favourite game - wow, mostly. my consoles don't get much attention anymore, only my bf playing all sorts of sports games^^ but because wow seems to be a given, i'll also mention heavy rain, which is really the best few hours i spent in ages. awesome.

That's actually a really cool idea! Perhaps we should have a new topic where people can post gamertags/PSN IDs/friend codes for individual games etc.? That way nobody has to dig through a topic to find somebody specific.
Also, I don't have a subscription most of the time (too dang poor! :laugh:) but I'd be more than happy to add you all the same. :) What games do you have?

If you ignore the name, the "Cooking Mama" games are really cool, but they are for DS only I think. I can't think of a lot of other games that are cooking only though. If you know of some others let me know, I'm obsessed with food too lol.

Am I the only one who REALLY wants a 3DS, but can't afford one? :'( (I've been waiting so long for 3D gaming, and I never upgrade my handhelds until something really new comes out--My most recent is a DS Lite)
Unfortunately I don't have the money to really play games much, so I'm kinda stuck with old PC games on my shoddy laptop. I'm currently playing through Arcanum, which is pretty fun. I'm also into browser-based games, I'm enjoying a strategic WWI game right now. Stuff is addictive.
I dream of the day I can build my own amazing rig and have a game collection on the walls ;_;
