Title: Final test! I am officaily female LOL
Post by: Just Shelly on January 15, 2011, 02:52:13 PM
Just a bit of silliness.
There is a test or call it a game of sorts.

You place a chair a  few inches from the wall, with the back side toward the wall.

You stand in front of chair, bend forwards and touch your head on wall. You then reach down and pick up the chair, with head continuing to touch wall.

You then proceed to stand up while holding chair up.

In this test, almost all females can stand up without too much difficulty, males on the other hand have much difficulty or cannot even do it.

I took this test a few times in my life, the last time years ago at some gathering. I was never able to stand up, even if I was on my tippy toes.

I just tried it the other day. I did it with little effort. I did use my toes somewhat but unlike before even if I was on the tips of my toes I couldn't do it.

I am not taking this seriously, its all in fun, but I was and still am curious as too why this happens.

:D Maybe its the boobs! :D

I can do that test, too. It's not exactly a precise measure, but it does make me feel good :) .

My fiancé and I both tried the 'test' and succeeded without any problems.
We can't figure out a physiological reason why one sex wouldn't be able to complete this test. Human body architecture isn't that dissimilar.

I think it has something to do with men usually have their weight evenly distributed across their bodies whereas woman are more bottom heavy thus allowing for more leverage in that little "test."

The reason is simply "center of weight". The architecture isn't that dissimilar, yes, but women are still usually a little more bottom-heavy than men.

What the test actually shows is whether your center of weight is above or below your hips. If it is above, then standing up from such a position without bracing or bending your knees or similar is physically impossible. If it is below, you can lift a quite heavy weight off the ground from the same position without over-balancing. The difference isn't big; it doesn't have to be 51% mass above the hip joint, 49% below is enough to make it impossible, whereas 49 above and 51 below is enough to make it possible.

The reason why the test tends to show a gender difference, I assume, has to do with male vs. female muscle development and fat distribution patterns. Obviously, skeletal development, how much and how you work out, how... "top-heavy" you are, etc., can lead to different results, so it's not an accurate test, but I'd expect it to show certain trends.

Oh heavens no!

There are some tests (markers) that may supposedly show your true gender.

Like the index finger length and so on...............or worst yet the cogiati test. Like the way I drive or some bs like that, determines my gender.

Yes, I must be female then. Whatever!

Ya that makes sense.

I'm not sure if thats my case, sure I have gained some weight top side (breasts) but I think my weight loss (muscle) is more. so who knows..............

But thanks for explanation. I personally never researched it , basically thought it may be a myth.

Myth Busters, are you hearing this?

Haha, I actually pass the finger test.  Yes it is 100% accurate to show your true gender based on these simple tests.  ::)

Ya, I've passed all of these so called tests, yes it does give me some (little) validation, but I don't base any of my feelings on these.

Could you show your source of authenticity for the 100% accuracy.

When I was 15 I first learned of the chair test.
I was the only male in the group who could do it. So we dismissed the test as a generalization.

As for the finger test, I fail.
