PESHAWAR: Frail and melancholy-looking white bearded man stopped for a while at the entrance to the room before taking a huge breath: he had already left his walking sticks at the building's main gate before climbing the stairs in a congested locality in the provincial metropolis.
This was the same city where his lovers would shower money on him and take him in their vehicles to parties for dancing. The irony of fate is that he is now begging in the streets to spend the remaining days of his life.
Known as Gul Babo, he was so much popular as a dancer that people would often postpone their programmes owing to his non-availability.
