Title: Umm.. Condoms
Post by: juliemac on January 19, 2011, 08:00:27 PM
I just bought 100 for 99 cents (13USD shippin) from Ebay.
Theres a few months supply. Not like I'll end up pregnant or with some strange disease if it breaks.
Besides, I trust Bob (#2)  :)

Yah, I got like 144 for $3 NZ.
Apparently I can stop using them now if I want to; though I'm a bit of a clean freak when it comes to my lady parts, so I'll keep using them for as long as I can get them cheap.

as i've been only sleeping with ma chap for 4 years or so now...

We both got checked out... some years back.... so have no use for them...

And no he's not the type to go sleeping around with other chicks...

I don't like em anyways.... the smell the fiddling etc, etc....

But obviously if you're into one nite stands and casual sleeps arounds there a must do....

I've never understood why some surgeons have you waste your money on those.  A medical grade stent/dilator does NOT require a condom.  A quick rinse off with warm water and anti-bacterial soap and then let them dry.  My surgeon also did NOT advise douching either.  I'm coming up on 3.5 years since surgery and no UTI's or yeast infections, so I must be doing something right.

Really? So you walk around with several week's worth of lube up your vagina?

Actually I don't sleep around. I have had one relationship in the past 30 years.

The dialtors I got have a very slight ridging which hurts.
The condoms keep them clean are sterile and are disposable.

The vagina cleans it self. douching is bad, your taking out good bacteria and increases your chances of getting a yeast infection.

Not during the initial 6 months after surgery it doesn't, there will be a constant flow of sloughing skin fermenting in your vaginal canal. If you don't douche, you will stink.

Condoms and lube, free at any community clinic or planned parenthood (bags worth).  Most collages as well.  Just a FYI.  When it comes to safe sex cost is never an excuse.

Remember to check exp. dates and condition.  When I did a community health event with my unit we received a shipment of condoms with safe sex information packets STAPLED to the each condom...that was a pure distilled awesome in a bottle moment when I had to cancel that event and explain why we couldn't distribute them.

i guess you never heard of a 'bath tub'' where you sit down and water gets up in your choochie there for you wont stink. douche is bad unless your just using plain water which is better.

Water going up your vagina? That sounds rather like...
Douching!

Quotedouche is bad unless your just using plain water which is better.

That's exactly what is recommended to douche with to wash out skin slough and lube: water.
Sometimes a few drops of betadine is useful if you have a bleed (in order to prevent infection).

I douche nightly with a saline solution--1 tsp salt per 4 liters(1 gal) of water.  I don't buy the idea that our vaginas are self cleaning.  The fluid which cleans a gg's vagina is produced by the uterus and we don't produce any kind of fluid which is responsible for cleaning ours.

What people don't realise is that the trans vagina is a wound, and like any wound, requires cleaning and care until it heals. No other surgical wound on the body is self-cleaning, so why the hell this one should be different is totally baffling.
SRS does not magically create a cis vagina.

interesting reading concerning self-lubrication, etc. The best thing to do of course is follow your own doctor's instructions as far as keeping clean.

I tried condoms early on for dilating and they caused internal bleeding, maybe because of an allergic reaction, I don't know.  For lubrication now I use this stuff from New Zealand (http://www.sylk.com.au/) made of kiwi fruit and just love it.

Many of the American surgeons advise against douching. I am past 8 month post, never douched once, and I don't stink, and no complaints from my girlfriend either.

None of the American surgeons get the same depth as the Thai surgeons, so I'm not surprised - less vagina, less stink.

If condoms are causing issues, then it's most likely a latex allergy.
Non-latex condoms are available, but they are comparitively extremely expensive.

I'm just wondering about those figures.
I've heard a recommendation of 0.9% saline solution.

0.9% * 1 gallon * density(water) = 34 grams

I don't have any real measuring spoons here but when I weigh out 34 grams of non-iodized salt on my digital scale
it looks by eyeball to be around two tablespoons.

Emelye has kindly volunteered that a teaspoon of salt is about 5 grams.
So we are talking about the neighborhood of two tablespoons depending on the granulation.

To me anything over a teaspoon seemed like too much when I started doing it.  I had some areas of delayed healing, that is why I continued to douche beyond Montreals two month recommendation.  I just wanted to keep the areas clean so they would heal and so far it's been working.  No smell and clean too!  :)

As long as this subject is condoms...

Has anybody ever used the FC2 Female Condoms (http://www.fc2.us.com/)?
It seem to me that the inner ring wouldn't fit very well in a neo-vagina.

O.K.  I thought they were for protected sex but I understand now.  One girl at the support group said that ribbed condoms made dialation pleasurable.  I opted for removing the t-producing mechanism and left the spare parts.  The external parts get cleaned every day or they smell; however, they do smell different than they once did.  It would be logical that some process would need to be done to clean internal parts.
.........................

Hmm can dialation be more than a maintainance item?

Yeah, and isn't this all about being happy with who you are? Instead people just constantly compare their results to others,"Mine is deeper than yours, I have more sensation than you, etc, etc, etc." Average natal depth is less than that of what most people assert that Thai surgeons deliver, so why do I want that much more depth? Make no sense whatsoever. Reminds me far too much of the other genders constant obsession with the size of theirs.

My dr said to NEVER douche and I havent.  I am 9mths post now and I use lube everyday.  I inject it inside of me prior to sex and dilation.  My vagina stank one time 4 weeks after surgery and it was a fishy smell and the dr told me to just take an epson salt bath and open my legs and I did and the smell went away and I havent had a problem since.  Our vaginas ARE self cleansing.  I wear a thin pad everyday and whatever was IN my  vagina is always on the pad, meaning the lube.  Your vagina will push all foreign matter out.  Believe it or not, our vaginas are REAL and not fake.  We are equivalent to a natal female who has had a hystorectomy.  Neither of us have a uterus anymore.  I eat yogurt 4 times a week and I drink a juice foritified with live probitiotic cultures on the other days.

Whatever works for any of us should be fine.

Apparently the post women who do douche dont have a problem and the ones who dont either.  So MAYBE they both are fine.  I douche only once when a condom broke on me out of fear.  No one has ejaculated in me since 1982 and I felt nasty when that condom broke and I douched then out of a compulsive obsession to NOT having bodily fluids in my body.

Ok. to get back on topic.
The package of condoms arrived from China yesterday.
100 Durex for under $14.00. That makes it 14 cents each. Not bad for a disposible item.

I tried one last night and dispite the instructions in chinese they performed like any other.

Two other things.
1) I use condoms for several reasons.
A) Cleanlyness
B) the dialtors I was given by the surgeon have the measurements indented in the surface. Though I sanded them with 2000 grit wet and dry sandpaper, can cause scratches on the vaginal opening which is uncomfortable. The condoms "smooth" out the insertion.
For me its primarily a personal prefrence nothing more. New girls can use them or not.

2) Vaginal depth has several factors.
A) Surgical skill of the doctor
B) Techniques used
C) Elasticity, age and hyrdration of the tissues used
D) Age and healthyness of the client.
E) Post operative care by the client.
Geographical location of the surgery has very little to do with it.

Fine, go ahead and do what you want to do.  But don't think everyone else should do the same, we're not lemmings.  And as I said before my doctor didn't recommend it, I didn't do it and 4 years later I'm just fine.  No UTI's, no yeast infections and no complications whatsoever.

Wow. I didnt get a lot of info from my doctor, found this place and thought I found a useful resource. A place with people like me, who struggled to gain control over their lives and the astounding lack of good information.

My doctor said to use condoms, he didnt say when to stop. I suppose other doctors have other techniques and treatments.
I posted about inexpensive condoms I found, a reliable name brand, for those that might have been given the same information by their doctor.

One doctor says to douche. Another says no. Mine said to douche with a small amount of betadine during the initial healing.
Its a medical opinion and all are valid options.

We are different from most of the world, we grew up under different psychological challenges and for the most part, we succedded. We, on this segment of the forum, have made that step through surgery. We are a minority in this world dispite all we do.

I came here to learn and to share the things I learned. But this thread degenerated into a name calling, petulant spewing, that lacks any good information for new girls coming in.  Stinky pussy and lemmings? Yup, we just told the new pewrson we know how to share information and can learn new things.

Juliemac your comments were very informative.  I went to a support group a couple of months ago and spent a couple hundred of my dollars to buy seats at a motivational seminar.  I was so excited to offer the tickets to the group.  Guest what they did?  They laughed at me.  They said one of the speakers was against LGBT and dismissed my gesture made with good intentions.   I left the meeting in progress and never returned.  I attended the motivational meetings by myself.  They were excellent.

The word "wound" was upsetting in that I have enough wounds that no one sees.  However, I do like the bath idea.  That sounds nice.  Very nice thread.
