Protect and serve? Or hold captive and rape? Craig Nash, a 39-year-old now-former Texas police officer, plead guilty to raping a transexual prostitute. While on duty. The female victim, who's currently serving time in a male prison, was picked up by Nash last February, put in the back of his patrol car, and taken to an unknown location where she was forced to engage in sex acts with Nash. DNA, as well as GPS tracking and the victim's identification of Nash in a line-up, clearly fingered him as the perp. (While Nash's attorneys insist the sex was consensual, it doesn't matter if you're a cop; having sex with anybody in custody is a felony.) So how did the ex-cop do at trial? Pretty great: In a deal worked out with prosecutors, he plead guilty only to a misdemeanor "oppression" charge, agreeing never to work as a law enforcement officer in the state again.
