Lately I've been facing a lot of sexism (against women because I still present myself as female) and I am confused. I noticed I hear people say a lot "I hate girls" or "girls are so stupid" or "girls are so annoying". I even hear GIRLS say this. That I don't get. This has nothing to do with the transgender community but I felt like posting about it here. So why do I hear even girls putting down girls when guys are doing it so much already? Help me out. I'm lost.
PS- no offensive answers please.
One reason why might be people tend to stereotype a lot so when a certain behavior that would tend to be female annoys them instead of saying "People who take forever when they shop drives me nuts!" since it's typically stereotyped as female behavior they might say "Girls drive me nuts!" Personally I do something similar a lot but I try not to and correct myself when I do that because well... my uncle takes forever shopping and he might be gay but he isn't female so it isn't just a female thing.
I tend to let those comments bounce off of me or ignore them. If they really upset you then correct the person or ask why they are saying that. You'll probably hear an I don't know and they won't be sexist like that in front of you for a while.
I guess. When people hear other people say it so often they just start saying it themselves and may not even realize it.
Or maybe they can't figure out one good thing about being female any more than I could.
Girls have a tendency to not really be able to stand other girls...or to be jealous of other girls. I never got along with girls all that well because I noticed that a lot of girls were rude or snide to each other or they were jealous of each other, especially if a guy was involved. And if a girl was perceived as being "prettier" then all hell could break loose.
None of it ever made sense to me so I stayed away from girls as much as possible until recently, and I mainly associate with girls who are older than me because most of them seem to not be so immature as the girls in their mid-20s or younger.
I jokingly say, "God...you're such a girl, mom", when she takes forever to shop. Or I say it to my sister jokingly. But it's family and we can get through many different jokes that don't make us mad because we're family and understand it's a joke and we really don't mean it. However, the "big stuff" is a different issue and unless you make it flat-out clear that you're joking about that, then it can cause problems and make me miffed (or the rest of the family miffed).

hahahah true!
:D
haha
well some say it is the ability to have children
but I am missing out on that one as well...
you know what?
A lot of outsiders often think that "I want to be a wioman"
EHm! false...
not by a long shot....
I do NOT choose to be a woman.... or a ->-bleeped-<-... actually
I would say that if I did, I would be crazy
No if I could choose, I'd choose to be a tall white strong big dicked intelligent charming heterosexual guy
yeah
:D
I dont really like girls either even though I am supposed to be one :D That is probably because of jealousy issues (I feel that a lot of them are spoiled) and because I dont have the patience for the way they communicate, I like people t be direct, even though I hide myself a lot of the times as well :) lol!!!!!

I swear, my family is entirely opposite. The men are the ones who are dodgy, and the women are the ones who are up front about everything. No wonder I'm so gender confused! You practically have to pull teeth to get a straight answer from the men in my family.
men are often more secretive yes...and less open about their feelings,
what I mean is the double layered communication woman sometimes have...saying one thing, and then meaning the exact opposite etc

That's what I'm talking about. The men in my family do that, and it drives the women nuts!

I don't think that this is sexism. Because they're talking about actions that they perceive to be 'feminine' and since most people are unaware of gender identity issues they simply assume that all girls are feminine. I mean hell, the majority of most pop culture movies play off of these gender stereotypes. (I.e the man is hunky but oblivious to the woman who is trying to tell him she loves him, all while the man has to save her from a mistake off her own doing... you get the idea.)
I'm not minimizing how ignorant these people are, they certainly are stupid, just that their particular brand of stupidity doesn't fit neatly into one category.

this
I will however say that a majority of the natal women I meet are wracked with jealousy and envious of those they consider to be more attractive then them.
Girl world is certainly a different place from boy world.

On noes, you mean you missed the part when T-shirts were sold openly with a printed text that said; "Boys are stupid - Throw rocks at them"?

Yes, adding gasoline to the forest fire helps extinguish it.
Guantanamera, I think Bishounen was saying that there's a lot of anti-male sentiment out there as well...
And please keep in mind TOS #7, that only Susan and mods/staff/admin are allowed to tell people to go away. If you have a problem with a post, report it and let the mods handle it.

Thank you, Arch, that was exactly my point. :)
My intention was to remind the reader that there is also sexism against males aswell in the Society, and yet suprisingly many people still believe and behave as the only sexism that exists is misogyny, when there is in fact quite a plenty amount of misandria, but with the difference that the Sexism against males are considered perfecty legal, and not the least, perfectly politically correct.
Anyway, I will not turn this thread into a heated debate about that but leave the matter as it is(Promise), but, I must warn that there will most probably be other discussions where I will bring it up anew, when/if the subject is touched upon, strong-opinionated and cheeky Equalist as I am.
Oh and thank you Arch for the welcoming earlier on. :)

I'm happy to see you here. Do you have a pronoun preference?

I wasn't saying there isn't sexism against males. I just wasn't clear on why women put down other women. All I want IS in fact, equality.

A Pronoun preference? Like Which gender I prefer being titulated as?
Well, If I would pick a symbol to describe my gender, I guess one of the following symbols would be the one; (https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2F4.bp.blogspot.com%2F_bkdzS1-Hujs%2FSyK-bz5sj6I%2FAAAAAAAAAAc%2FihbAd_WvnJg%2FS740%2F90px-Transgender-intersexual_symbol.svg.png&hash=b852aee5f1303c578299449d999b347771e4af8c)
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ft2.gstatic.com%2Fimages%3Fq%3Dtbn%3AANd9GcSEosiLmLaZWizuvQbtVj7ytMQ-ccPDngsrwIdDa-SlO_kCBwNA_w&hash=a19006390e85cef0b50df8fc00baf5678f4c532b)
However, people are free to gender me how they like, really, and if they wish to say "He" I am happy and if they wish to say "She" I am happy aswell. :P But if they say "It", I'll consider kicking their behinds. ;D
Josh T: Understood.:)
The reasons why females puts down other females could be anything, really. Jealousy, competition, or bad personal experiences with a certain gender, in this case females. Sexism is not genderbound and females can be misogynists aswell, just as males can be misandrists too, usually caused by bad experiences whereafter the person do the misstake of applying those past experiences upon a complete folkgroup; In other words, guilt by association, which is one of the main reasons why there is so much hatred in this World.

Ah. I see. Well thanks for clearing things up for me man :)
Men are twice as bitchy as women! It's just not socially acceptable to say it!
When I was in 'girl mode', I noticed a lot of the same things. but when I hang out with my guy friends, they will point to another guy and say 'he's a douche' or something along those lines.
I think a lot of it is just how people are socialized to behave. I was always told that I had to behave in a certain way in order to establish my place in society and to keep my husband. Women are told that every other woman is out to get your man, your job, etc. Every man is told that he has to be this perfect representation of what 'man' means or he's not really a man.
I don't get it either. I am totally happy to just be myself and let others feel however they want. But I will say that when I was in girl mode I did feel that I had to fit into the sterotypical female role. Be jealous, be catty, be over the top in how I acted just so I could fit in. I can say that once I realized I didn't have to do those things I felt much better. I think it is probably the same thing for men. If you are not tough enough, strong enough, muscled enough then you don't really fit in. It's kind of sad really.

This. This exactly. I think this goes for both genders, not just women. Boy oh boy can I not wait until I get out of my female "role" and be able to be myself.
