Title: What FFS should I get? (Advice!)
Post by: ZeldaHeart on January 27, 2011, 04:49:47 AM
Hi everyone!  I have been contemplating getting facial feminization surgery for years and finally (sort of) have the opportunity to get it.  Right now, I really only want to get brow/orbital ridge reduction and don't have enough money for anything more than about 10,000.  I know that a tracheal shave is absolutely necessary, but I think it's natural to be a bit more concerned about my face!  Is a brow reduction the most important thing to have done (for me)?

Your face looks already quite feminine, judginf by your photos.
The brow ridge indeed seems a bit advanced, but not excessive.
Maybe the jaw line is a bit square, but it might still be ok.
The nose might need a bit of thinning, but then again, it's still withing the female normale range in my opinion.
Maybe some scalp advance would be a good idea.
In any case, the adam's apple is probably something you should try to eliminate...

I advise that you go in person to the surgeon office to have a preliminary consultation and counselliing : your photos are very pretty for sure, but the surgeon will need to examine you directly, take measurements and look at your skull X rays to decide which would be best to optimize your face.

Regards,

Thank you for responding, Aurora (and for saying I look "quite feminine/pretty").  If that's you in your avatar; you are pretty!  I'm one of those people who has always been against plastic surgery up until I started to notice that there are distinct features that separate adult male faces from adult female faces, like brow bossing.  Rhinoplasty seems a bit scary/iffy because I really don't want to end up looking like Michael Jackson or any Jackson for that matter, but it would DEFINITELY help to look more attractive.  I'm saving that for a bit down the road, though, when I have more money.  My brother always says that the nose doesn't indicate gender, which I completely agree with.  It seems to me like the jaw and brow have the most impact on your perceived gender.

Here's hoping my insurance covers the consultation.

First I am no expert, but have done a bit of research lately.  I think your photos are very feminine, especially from straight on.

I had a brow reduction/hair advance and rhinoplasty with Dr. Zulkowski last year.  You brow is interesting to me because its no like there is obvious brow bossing (?) like a distinct ridge over your eyes separated from your forehead, like I had.   I had Dr. Z grind that thing off and it helped a lot.  But it looks like the area between your eyes is really set back, giving that brow ridge appearance.   It makes me think if you wanted work done on the forehead the setback method done by Drs. O, Dimaggio and Spiegel would be the way to go.

I really liked the assessment from Alexandra at http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/. (http://www.virtualffs.co.uk/.)  She gives a good written assessment and will even do up a couple of photos.  I also found that most surgeons I contacted wanted to do everything even though I didn't.  Dr. Z says he would still like to "finish my face", and I had to fight him hard to only do the procedures that I (and Alexandra among others) thought was necessary.  I really didn't want to look too plastic or really that different, just less male.

Anyway I hope that helps,
Jenna

I think you look very feminine, and in fact pretty. I actually dated a girl who had far more brow bossing than you and she was a college cheerleader and later worked as a well paid stripper for a while.... for whatever that is worth. I would have to spend 40K to have your face. If you feel you need surgery get it, but I don't see it. I would have never questioned that your were female. You look great!

In a word.  NO.

Maybe a Trach Shave, but I see nothing else necessary.

Umm...is this a joke? DO NOT let a surgeon anywhere near your face, PLEASE! Maybe a trach shave but nothing else! I will cry!

I agree with what the rest of the ladies are saying. The potential dangers of what could happen far outweigh the incremental improvements you would be making. If your minimal brow ridge bothers you, try bangs. Your brow ridge is smaller than my sisters.

You have beautiful features, and personally I'll not get anything done if I were you.  The last thing you need is an unnatural look or something that tells the world you've had "work done".  Chondrolaryngoplasties are necessary for some people, but in your case, I see no need honestly.
