Title: Sports?
Post by: Devyn on February 06, 2011, 04:27:01 PM
Unlike the stereotypical guy, I hate watching sports. The only sports I can voluntarily watch are hockey, soccer, and cage fighting, if you consider it a sport.

On the other hand, I absolutely love to play sports. I just hate watching them.

So basically, when the Superbowl comes around, I get a thousand "Why don't you like football?!"

Do you guys (and girls) like sports? Which sports?

I hate to watch sports on tv, I find it completely boring. I don't mind going to an actual game and seeing it live, but on tv, no way, boring as hell. I do however like to play sports, but that was mostly when I was a kid. I played baseball and basket ball. Now, I'm just too lazy to do anything. Not that I don't enjoy playing sports now, I'm just lazy and I don't like to run, lol.

I've never understood the concept of watching sports.

Yeah. Watching sports isn't my thing either. The closest thing I watch to a sport on TV would be poker if I stumble upon a tournament. So I don't even follow scores or anything. I'm not a big fanboy of any actors or actresses either,  so why would I be a fan and waist my time on athletes?
I'd rather be productive instead of watching others goofing around.

I don't like watching sports either. They bore me for some reason. The best part of the superbowl is the commercials.

Okay i for the most part hate sports...playing, watching, whatever. One exception is football, i love football. but everything else im not really interested in....especially boring ass baseball! ugh! especially where i live, boston...oh god its all you hear about every second, i just want to punch everyone that talks about it.

other than football, if it counts i do like boxing and ufc and such.

See, I personally find football to be both the most boring to sport to watch and play (tied with baseball) running for 2 seconds before you have to stop, re-set and start over? At least rugby be has the insta-restart option.

I actually think football gets right to the next play really quick. Especially compared to baseball...ugh, there must be 5 minutes between each play and they don't even have to do anything to get ready! In football they have to get the next play and get in positions, all these people, and theyre still quick about it.

Find sports is a lot more fun to watch when you have people to talk to about it. I enjoy watching soccer, football and hockey if there is someone to share the excitement.

I hate to watch sports because they are boring. I have no interest in playing sports either. I feel girly when I admit to someone that I hate sports :/

I love playing sports. I don't like watching most on tv. Football is ok but I love watching hockey either in person or on tv.  We used to have season tickets. I hate watching baseball but love playing it and love soccer in general.

Ya, I live in Boston too and I can't stand baseball season.  All everyone talks about is the Red Sox and if you don't like em, other guys look at you funny.

Well, in our line of life, whether you like sports or not---how can you NOT root for a team called the "PACKERS"? HELLO!! :o

I like to play soccer and baseball. That's pretty much it. They're also the only two sports I can watch on TV. I can't stand football, I really just don't get the point of it.

Hahaha!! I never even thought of that! (The Packers are my team.)

As for the question being asked...I used to think it was far less interesting to watch sports on Tv than in person, and I nearly always preferred to play. I've noticed this has been changing lately -- of course, my team's been playing the past few weekends, so...

Probably the first sport I really got into watching on Tv was lacrosse, but if I don't think they're trying hard enough I change the channel quick. Hockey's fun to watch, and I've enjoyed watching soccer as well. Football I've been getting into more. I also watch MMA sports when I catch them. Not sure yet if I've gotten into any others quite yet, but I imagine it'd be much the same way, especially as last winter I was listening to a basketball game on the radio.

Sports are always more interesting in person though: even if you don't care about the teams you get into it. I've always enjoyed playing them though, largely at least.

I think sports are boring to watch, and boring to play (crappy motor skills and delayed reactions have made it so).

To me, disliking sports is a "manly" thing because my father also dislikes sports. In my family, carpentry is a woman's thing, and so is eating meat and driving cars. I hope the therapist won't give me trouble because of my perception of manliness being slightly outside of the norm...

I HATE watching sports.. it's boring, as I'd much rather be playing them..

However there are a few sports I can enjoyably watch: Dog/Horse Racing, Mountain Biking.. and the olympic jaz can be entertaining with country pride.

I was rooting for the Packers for the SuperBowl, but only because it seems imperative that you choose a team. I really was only watching for the commercials. But when it comes to watching sports I like to watch [American] football (only in person), baseball (because I understand the rules, regulations, and general play of the sport), and hockey. My favorite sport to watch is hockey. Since I'm from Michigan the only team to go for is the Red Wings. I really hated it when Osgood got injured.

Also when people say football on here, I'm never quite sure whether you're talking about American football or what Americans call "soccer" and most of the world calls "football."

Hi Guys
From a girl point of view. I don't watch sport or even follow it. I find even the big events such as the Olympics etc a bore. Always have. I like to exercise and run and go to the gym etc. And enjoy long walks. I even used to surf, not well . But watching, no way.

One of my friend's husband watches anything, especially golf. How can anyone watch golf ::) ::).

One comment he made to her summed it for me. "Tiger really had to work for it on the last nine". She said to me., "what do mean he had to work for it, he's hitting a ball with a stick!!" Sums up sport for me

Cindy, now being on the cover of Sports Illustrated, I could do that ::) ::) ::)

i love watching sports. doesn't really matter what. baseball and american football are slow, but rugby, cricket, soccer/football and wnba basketball are my favorites. grew up in a house where if you didn't route for the right team it was threatened that you'd have to go live somewhere else.
girlfriend and i try to take in as many different teams/levels as we can whether it's college or professional. it's amazing how supporting a team can bring people of all different races, religions, sexes, and locations together for a common purpose.

Since I discovered Ice Hockey I have less interest in watching most other contact sports. The standard of violence is much better!! >:-)  I like to ice skate, but would have no hope carrying a stick as well. I can fall over without help!

I prefer Rubgy League to Aussie Rules, Rugby Union, or soccer now. Cricket is good, especially Test matches, you can come back an hour or a day later, and it is still going on.

How Americans can call their game "football" is a puzzle though when nobody kicks the ball.  And a "touchdown" when they don't ???? Baseball and basket ball leave me cold too, they are just too complicated.

Actually they do something called kick-offs. So they do indeed kick the ball.

I have to agree with you on Hockey. It's really brutal even with the equipment.

I love love love sports....there are some sports I do not enjoy watching on TV but mainly b/c I don't know what is going on - like golf.

I played sports in high school & college --- swimming, basketball, lacrosse

I love watching college sports -- not so much pro but will watch them.  My all time favorite thing to watch is Kansas Basketball - rock chalk!

I'm not a fan of watching sports. I'd rather be playing sports (Wii Sports that is... that counts, right? LOL) or going to the gym to do some weightlifting or jogging or cycling.

I used to play both indoor and outdoor soccer, hockey, basketball, and volleyball. In middle school I played soccer. In high school I played basketball. Now in college I don't play anything, not even intramural , from what I hear the school teams aren't even worth playing on. I never religiously watched any games. I will sometimes catch a game or go see one.

I love hockey, I've been a fan since I was 7. It's fast, violent, and exciting. I've never played it though, I can't even skate. Equestrian sports are also fun, both watching and participating in. Eventing, particularly. Actually, that's the only sport I've pursued,  though I don't compete. Team sports sound like hell on earth to me, and most of them are boring to watch.

The only sport that I've done is TaeKwonDo -- used to compete nationally with sparring and forms. Used to do demonstration competitions as well. I love watching sparring live. I can't watch through a television set -- it just doesn't give me the full effect.

As for skateboarding or snowboarding, I love watching it.

Any sports involving balls, save soccer, I can't really sit through.

I don't like watching or playing team sports, except for maybe playing the occasional game of baseball when I have the chance (which is almost never).  Some things I do really like to do--swimming, skating, martial arts, hiking, canoeing.  The only sports I've ever been able to tolerate watching are the Olympics and American Gladiators.

oy playing.. frogot to add that in..

I was one of those kids who did everything in intramurals/school teams. I did badminton, basketball, volleyball, futsal, soccer, floor hockey, swimmining and I donno what else.

I love doing things like backpacking, horseback riding, mountaineering, mountain biking of all forms; Dirt jumping through Downhill, bmxing in the skatepark, rock climbing, white water rafting, taekwando, weight lifting, etc.

Was racing at a national level in Down Hill MTB pre transition.

I'll give pretty much anything a go at least once.. the only sports that I really hate doing are Tele Skiing, Golf, and Tennis.

I like to swim and practice archery, but I dislike watching swimming or archery (both are incredibly boring in my book).  I've participated in swim meets, but never got a chance to shoot in an archery contest because I moved to an area with no place to practice let alone been in a contest.

I like to watch rugby, though, and the occasional football game (though I don't have cable or satellite so I don't watch anything lately).

Archery is so much fun!  I love it so much, but I haven't been able to practice in years.  I also want to do fencing, but there's nowhere to do that here either.

I love everything about sports. I love to play pretty much any sport. I like to watch football, basketball, hockey, and pretty much any type of MMA. I like to watch baseball if I actually go to the game. Honestly, when my TV is on, it's on sports 90% of the time.

Sorry Blonde moment,
How do you ski up a mountain? I've been towed onto big waves that you can't swim out to, and then surf them is it similar to that?
