Howdy,
I am looking into starting a grant similar to the Jim Collins Foundation here in Sacramento to help locals in the trans community afford SRS. One of my thoughts is to talk to the drug manufacturers for donations. I figured I would probably get more info faster by asking Susan's Place than trying to research it all my self.
So yeah - Who is the maker of your HRT????
And thanks in advance

I like your idea so I thought I'd offer some suggestions to get where you want to with this.
First you're going to have to get through the corporate "shield" to get to the right person and the main operator is probably not the best place to go. You need to find a contact inside. You can do this by searching in the us Patent system for the manufacturer you want and try and narrow down to the specific drug areas you want using keywords.
What you are looking for is the names of the inventors on the patents. With this you can call and ask for them directly. They usually don't have people calling them direct for stuff like this so they will be off guard. That is your advantage. Be nice and have them give you the name of the person that could help. Once you have that info you can call the right person and say, " I was talking with Dr. Smith over in xyz research earlier today and he suggested I call you on this......"
If you can get him to give you the number great (so you can call direct later), then ask him if he would mind transferring you to the right extension. With a number of phone systems internal calls will not show your phone number thus throwing him off as well. The key is to keep them off balance and agreeing with what you are saying.
Don't ask for the moon on the first call. Ask for their help... For example, "Would you mind if I sent you a short proposal on a grant I am working on. I'd like to hear your thoughts and opinions on it." That's it. Don't ask for money. Let them help structure the program, get committed to it, get their finger prints and ego in to it. You can get to yes a lot faster if you take your time. But when the time is right you need to ask the question directly.
I hope this helps. I know this process works because I've used it to direct our sales teams into the hearts of many many major corporations. If you need to hit the marketing guys up go after the Trademark searches.
