can hrt cause it? i've been on anti androgens since march, and then started estrogen in august. yesterday i got really depressed because som guy i went to school with before was working in the convenient mart, and caled me my boy name. i started feeling crappy, and felt like i had to move out of the area just because i felt like i was going to be able to transition. later, i felt like crying, but i don't feel bad about that now. next, at dinner tonight, my dad was saying some things that were pissing me off. i'm not usually this sensitive to things.
Welcome to the wild world of estrogen!
Yes it most definitely cause mood swings... Especially if your body is first getting used to the dosages.

Yeah. Fun, isn't it?
yeah...i had a proper strop a week or two ago that would have done any teenage girl proud.
I've been crying at the news ever since the Tuscon shooting happened.. I've totally stopped watching/listening to the news lately.

I almost never cry, and I still can't find a valid reason for watching the news.

That probably means that you should start out on a lower dose until you are certain you can handle a higher dose.
I would get teared up easily before HRT now I can just cry, it been very liberating.
Oh yes, the mood swings. I'm driving my SO crazy. Happy one minute, bitchy the next, then crying and laughing about it.

I'm with you on this one!
I've heard a lot about oestrogen causing mood swings but it never has with me. I can't remember the last time I cried.
I have been on HRT going on 3 months, I can say that I am not having mood swings, But at the same time, i am alot more emotional, ie; Crying or at least tearing up with tv shows like Home Makeover.... I have never teared up over that show until recently.
I have been on HRT for over 5 mos and have had very few crying spells since the New Year started. Before that I had one about every other day.
I have heard this and I guess I have some mood swings, now that I look back. But the lessening of my anxieties it has brought me more than makes up for it.
I don't seem to get mood swings at all beyond naturally getting sad at sad things, happy with happy things. Things are rather stable. I'm on patches so my estrogen levels are pretty constant.
I mean I am a bit more emotional now. I cry at things I would not cry about before. But not overly so. I did feel rather loopy for the first few months.
I also caution people about advising others in regard to dosage and depression etc. Let the experts worry about that.
:-*
Curiously, while my emotionly I'm now incredibly mercurial, mentally I feel a lot more stable. Yes I do have mood swings, but I don't brood on things the way used to when I got down.
say the wrong to me or what i think is the wrong thing and here come the water works as well as just being emotinally a wreck.
