Hey guys. I'm genderqueer, but I figured I'd post in the FTM category because it's appropriate for the issue. I hate my period, and I want to be rid of it. At the moment I'm on birth control, but I don't plan on that being a permanent solution. I'll be on T for a while, but not forever. So...in the future, what surgical options do I have to stop menstruation? Also, do hystos cause menopause by themselves, or only if you also remove the ovaries? Thanks.
You have to remove the ovaries to cause menopause. The hysterectomy just prevents baby making, periods, and whatnot. Your ovaries can still produce estrogen and that pretty much prevents menopause. As for surgeries to stop menstruation, I'm pretty sure hysterectomy is the only one. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
After a certain age you are allowed to get a hysto if you ae not trans. You can get a subtotal which just takes out your uterus so you will have female hormones just no periods. If you get a total hysto your ovaries will be gone and you will have menopause.
That helps. Thanks.
Well yeah, if you get a Depo Provera shot every 3 months you will prob lose yer period...a lot of people do...periods are stupid...i havent had one since i was 13. fine with me. i noticed that when it went away, i did feel even more masculine than before. i got the shot in the 1st place to eliminate the period, which i was grossed out by and didnt feel natural to me at all. It's not healthy to be on it for more than a few years, and def not for someone so young, cause loss of bone marrow density as well, not so good...only found this out when i got the shot in Cali, they dont tell you most places...anyway i have no money, so no other option....
