I have a few FTM friends. They both drink quite a bit. One of them smokes pot occasionally, and smokes. HRT has been very successful for them, they both look wonderful. I'm curious though, since everyone says it's dangerous and not recommended to do these things on hormone treatment, is it different for people on testosterone/FTMs? Do they face the same risks MTFs do or is it really dangerous only while on estrogen??? Curious, curious, curious.
Risk still exists. My endo learns I smoke, she refuses to renew my T. Some risks are different tho. Too many red blood cells is a factor for FTM but not MTF.
I don't know if T poses the clotting risk that estrogen poses (except transdermal), but that might be one of the factors with smoking and HRT.
The big risk with T is elevated blood pressure. My own average went up 15 points, taking me from ideal/normal to flirting with the low end of 'high'. I don't smoke (anymore) and I'm now exercising more aggressively to deal with this. From what I understand, testosterone therapy can also put some added strain on the liver, although I wasn't told to refrain from drinking (just to do it in moderation).
