I wasn't sure where to put this, but I was excited!
My mother and I have fleshed out the name I will adopt after I transition; with many factors involved including heritage, lineage, subtle effect when heard, etc...
My name will be Emma. My first name will be shifted to my middle name: Emma Ryan
Here though, I will keep the screen name Marina; for the time being.
She also told me that my girl name would have been Amanda Katherine were I born a GG. Maybe that was the reason I wasn't? >:-)
I'm slightly curious: do any of you have alternative names from your parents in the event of your being born in the correctly sexed body?
Thanks! Simple and pretty isn't it?
Plus, it means a lot to me that my mother helped pick it out. So awesome.
Congratulations! I think that's a really cool name. I'm so glad you Mom helped you.
I asked my mother what they would have called me if I had been born a girl and got a snappish reply that they named me after I was born. I think she was lying and would love to know what they had chosen.
Now all you would need to do is change your last name to Peel. ;D

My mother once told me she did, but refused to say anything about it.

Haha! I love it! Though, I won't be changing my last name.
Lance: Ryan is a good name, one that develops a swagger in the person that wears it. That's the reason I'm keeping it. Thomas, however, is my deadbeat brother's middle name, and the name of my wife's derelict father. I can't say I'm a fan. Lance is very good. Reminds me of a knight in shining armor :)
Hannah and Spacial: I'm sorry for your mom's bad behaviors. I find it hard to believe that they would not have had an alternative. I remember obsessing about my daughter's name until I remembered a Goddess I wrote about in my D&D days: Aryalin. This became her name (note the ryan present in there ;)). She would likely have been named Ashton if she were a boy. I had no interest in coming up with a better male name.

yea when I asked my mom what I would have been called if I was born male, she said "we KNEW you were going to be a girl, we never came up with male names" I think thats bull.
My mother told me I was going to be Caroline if I was a girl. But who knows because she changed my boy name at the last second without consulting dad. I didn't want to go with Caroline though. Caroline who lives in North Carolina...no. :P

Thank you for your sympathy.
Though I should really defend my mother here, to an extent. I recall, first asking her when I was about 5 years. My younger brother had just been born and there was a discussion about being born boy or girl. My sister, who was 10, so much wanted a sister. My mother did say she thought I would be a girl, though she didn't say why at the time. When I asked her about it, she became conscious of my effiminacy, which she and my father were trying to 'train' me out of.
It wasn't as bad as it might sound. That was a different era. They expected there to be another war and for their sons to bravely take part.
Emma is a beautiful name. It suits a beautiful young lady.
Hugs
Beth
I would have been Arwen Eleanor...but it never seemed to fit
Actually the name Alyssa is my alternate name, which is why I chose it.
Oh sure. If my parents had a boy, the name would be Aaron Darren. Being born close to Christmas saved me from being named Erin Karen and I got a Christmas-y name instead.
One of my sisters got the name my mom intended for me had I been born in the right body.
That's awesome Emma :) It's nice to hear of the accepting parents helping to come up with new names
My mom said I would've been Andrew Scott but she agrees that Andrew Alexander is better especially since I went by Alex at first. It was nice having her help me to come up with it :)
I just went through my voicemail and kept the two messages in which I was addressed as Emma ;D
I'm always happy to hear of people getting help through transition.
I would have been Kelly, which is why I'm using that as my middle name for now.
I'd have been Sean. I hate that name. So I chose Ryan haha.
I like Emma, I know a lot of cute Emmas :P
