Death is an evil. Were it otherwise, the gods would have died eons ago. As of yet, no human has found a way to avoid death; the most anyone was done is to delay it. But that does not mean we should embrace death. Sure there are times when we all ... But, in general, we wait until death comes to us.
Women with a transsexual history have ample opportunity to practice waiting: children, separation, divorce, and sex reassignment surgery. By the time you have made it through all that, you are so far off the therapeutic scorecard that it's no wonder that some of us just don't ever make it.
We often get married because we thought marriage was what was expected of us. At 22 my biggest fear was that I would live my life alone. I know now that my first marriage stood as a stopgap for a lot of things. But 40 years ago the only transsexual women I had ever of were Christine Jorgensen, Janet Morris, and Canary Conn.
