I switched from having my gender blank on facebook to setting it to male a few weeks ago, and my friend messaged me today with "why does it say that (female name) has written on his wall post?" I sent her a message saying that I see myself as male and am glad that the notices are going out this way, as I prefer male prounouns, and she responded "Ah cool, makes sense." Doesn't really count as completely coming out as trans, but I'm still happy about this, as this is the first time I've discussed anything with someone close to me.
That counts.
Well done Lee and great that you have a good friend there.
Thanks spacial. Even if she hadn't asked, she probably would have been the first person I'd talk to about it. We've been friends since we were 3, and she is one of the most loving and accepting people you'll ever find. It also doesn't hurt that her brother's a cross dresser, so she's used to people with gender variations. Here's hoping things can happen with everyone else with it being such a non-issue.
Very good Lee!
Remember there's no rush, tell people at your own pace.
I personally wanted to get everyone I cared to know, told as soon as possible... just so it would no longer be weighing on my mind. I can also see how others would want to wait longer... it's not a race and there's no right or wrong way
Do it at whatever pace works for you, it's great that your friend sounds so cool!
Thats awesome, and yes it does count. My gender is blank, because Im out to most of my friends, but not all of my family yet. I plan on that changing very soon. Anyway, congrtulations :)
