So, I'm a writer...
In the past, I've started writing several books, but have not finished or worked on them for years. I always get writers block after the first few chapters. But recently I started writing a new book, and it is brilliant as well as containing a personal hidden message.
The book is called "The Waters of Narielle" and is about a writer who befriends a troubled artist. The artist has lost his family to a fire in which only two paintings of his and his beloved wife survived. The paintings were The Waters of Narielle, and The Phoenix.
The writer soon learns of the deep depression the artist suffers, and how he is slowly losing his mind. The artist blames the fire that killed his family, on the painting The Phoenix, which is said to have an ominous presence. After the artist's studio burns down, he is commited to an asylum where he confides in the writer, the story behind The Waters of Narielle, which he believes to be true. The writer believes the artist is nuts, but as the book progresses, the reader is led to consider the validity of the story.
The book is a giant conglomerate of several different metaphors pertaining to reality, transgender struggles, discrimination, depression, etc.
The transgender part comes in when a strange race of creatures is introduced to the artists story. They are outcasts and feared by the race that dominates most of the land surrounding the mystical Narielle.
It sounds like it will be really interesting.
As someone who resorted to writing, many years ago, as a means of elf expression, I know how much you can achieve from this.
My own experience is to put things down when you get block, but not put away. It really doesn't matter how many are on the go at one time.
Good luck.
Oh I definately have not put away my other books... I usually write short stories, but they are very dark and very death oriented. In my short stories book, The Journal of Woe, I destroy the earth many different times (so far about 10). The book is about Simon Zel, who in a time of desperation, made a deal with a secretive race called The Co, and in exchange for the chance to live Simon is cursed to walk the earth for eternity, taking a written account of the horrible things that happen. His travels are not limited to our time or dimension either. Along the way, he begins to discover a way to break the curse of The Co, and not only free himself, but the countless others that have met their curse.
