Title: Swimming?
Post by: xAndrewx on February 16, 2011, 08:59:47 PM
So I'll be going swimming on my cruise and I have my old tri-top (which is already stained and destroyed) for under whatever I wear but anyone have suggestions on what to wear over it? What do ya'll use? I'm hoping to find something that doesn't cling too much so any suggestions are very greatly appreciated :)

When I go in the water I where my compression vest and compression shirts and wear a black t-shirt over it.

Wear your binder under a rash guard.

I wear a sleeveless polyester (not cotton!) muscle shirt over my binder.  You can get them for less than $10 at places like Target or Kmart.

Have fun!  :)

I'm in the same boat man. I'm going on a cruise in May and this is the first time I'll be going in the water since I came out to my family. I'm getting nervous about what to wear, especially since my chest doesn't bind completely flat. So thanks for starting this topic, hopefully we get some helpful responses!

When I lived as a boy, I had boobs even before the HRT. If you look around you will see that lots of guys do. I used to wear a rash guard and then like a mesh nylon sport top thing on top of that if I was feeling self-concious. I NEVER went topless. That and baggy swim shorts should be all you need.

Andrew, I still have my boy swim stuff and some tropical button down shirts I used for my cruise last year. They should be pretty baggy on you I think. I was going to donate them to goodwill, but I would be happy to give them to you instead. Just let me know how to get them to you.

Salt water does nothing to a binder, so you can wear your normal binder if they have salt water pools or if you swim in the ocean. Chlorinated water is what you can't expect a binder to survive long from.

I wear my binder and a Hawaiian button up shirt.

I wear regular trunks (packing with a jock) and an A-shirt type of binder with these awesome tank tops I found on Amazon. They are sold as unisex I guess, but they  fit so much better than random guys tanks I have owned where they are proportioned too big, too long, armholes too big, etc. They are made by ANVIL and they are the BOMB :D Happy swimming!!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone :) I talked it over with my mom and it looks like I'll be buying a rash guard since I already have some board shorts and can use my old binder. The pool will be chlorine and I don't think I'll be in the ocean so I do expect some binder damage but that'll be alright since it's an old one.

Melody: Thanks! That would be awesome! :) I actually don't think I'll have a chance to get them from you before the cruise but if you were going to donate them I'd love to take them off your hands for you at the next meeting for future use because I was just told that we'll be going to the pool more often hopefully.

I second the rash guard.  I haven't gotten to go swimming since I got my mesh-back binder, so before I just wore a Frog Bra under it.  I'm looking forward to seeing how it works with the binder.

How do you guys pack while swimming?

i used to just keep my binder and any old tshirt on. being that i was a bigger guy i would assume people thought it was more of an 'oh he's embarrassed to be big' than 'he doesnt want anyone to know he has big breasts'. but i do live in washington and the chances for swimming here don't come often so i can't say i used this too many times

Sure. Too bad you aren't going to a certain shin-ding on Tuesday!  ;D

Many G-guys in Aus wear tops to protect from the sun. so a baggy T over a binder and wearing board shorts should be ok.

Have a great cruise. Where are you going?

Thanks everyone :) I couldn't find a rash guard so I just got a sleeveless white sports shirt that I'm going to wear over a T-shirt with my binder under it and some board shorts. Hopefully that will work well enough. If not well... I'll be surrounded by people I'm never going to see again anyways and I'll just not go swimming for the rest of the cruise.

Melody: I wish I could go! I have to work :( I literally go in at 4:30 and am working until a half hour before it's all over. Have fun though! :)

Cindy: Thanks :) Me and my mom are headed to the Bahamas for a few days
