Title: daydream come true
Post by: Nikolai_S again on February 22, 2011, 11:11:10 PM
(First - I got locked out of my actual account because password reset isn't working, so if anyone can help me with that, please do. Posted in the Forum questions board 2 days ago and got tired of waiting, sorry for using another account for this)

I've been dreaming about it for a long time, and it finally happened - I've changed enough that someone I used to know didn't recognise I was the same person, and instead asked if I had a sister.  ;D I was really caught off guard, because as soon as I saw her I was sure she was going to greet me as she used to, but instead she just looked kind of confused about it. This was someone I saw 2-3 times weekly for classes, 2 years in a row. I stuttered and wanted to jump in the air for joy, all at once.

And I actually hung out with someone.... just casually talking, walking around town. I don't exactly have friends, and it went well, and that was huge for me. I've really only "hung out" with a friend a few times before, and he became my boyfriend. I knew this guy a few years ago, too. And it was way more comfortable now than it used to be to interact with him, which just made me feel all the better about transitioning. I even got introduced to his friends, and they didn't seem to think anything odd was going on. That was the first time I had interacted with someone, and then a group, casually and felt even slightly like I was doing so normally. Period. Good feeling.

Which is good, because I had just been starting to feel like I was never going to be able to integrate into society in a reasonable way. So now, I'm not going to feel like punching someone next time they complain about feeling like an outcast along with their 3+ friends. Because I really was that frustrated.

Totally self indulgent post, but I'm feeling good right now and I wanted the experience to be on record. :)
