Title: ? about testosterone test
Post by: Harbor on February 23, 2011, 03:55:58 PM
How long does it usually take for a doctor to get the results of a testosterone test back? I had blood drawn last week and haven't heard back from my doc yet, and I'm wondering when I can expect to.

When I had my test done I went in on a Thursday and got a call the Monday after. You should try calling your doctor's office.

well it depends what it was for.

usually if blood work is done and there is nothing strange or wrong you won't get a call back at all.

It usually takes a few weeks to a month for me to get my testosterone level lab results back.  My doctor's office seems to do all of the rest of the tests on site (like hemoglobin levels and all the standard stuff), but they have to send a sample off site - to a different state - to have it checked for hormone levels.  So they have to send the sample there to the diagnostic place, and then the results have to get sent back to the doctors office, and then they send the results to me.  It can take a while.
