hey guys. i sort of have a problem. i bike commute about 15 miles every day. since being on T and having dick growth, i've noticed that it's become a little uncomfortable to ride. mostly the fact that my little guy tends to rub the seam on my jeans. now, i don't use 'bike wear' to ride. lycra and all that. i just ride in regular clothes. but i was wondering if getting a small athletic cup, a boys' size, would be a good idea to reduce the irritation. i've tried putting some padding in my underwear (briefs) but that doesn't work. also, i don't wear tight jeans. since our anatomy is unique i wanted to check in with other transguys who ride. what have you done to alleviate this problem? i'm open to just about anything.
I ride my bike almost everywhere [well... everywhere within a reasonable distance] I've never really experienced what you're talking about. I wear boxers and baggy pants pretty much every day. Typically its more of a problem for me that my pants are halfway down my ass and my boxers are showing all over the place than any discomfort.
hm...well i'm glad it's not bugging you. maybe i'll try boxers. i got some today just for lounging but i'll wear 'em tomorrow and see how it goes. it's the dang seam on my jeans that's hitting the wrong spot. thanks for the reply.
Yea boxers are nice because it sets the limit to genital proximity at about 2-3 inches, I also don't wear jeans. They tend to be stiffer than most pants which may also add to the problem. I do own pants of a similar stiffness, but they're so baggy that the end of the fly is only a couple inches from my knees... not much to rub down there. Jeans kinda suck.
Annoyance went away after a few rides. Got desentizied quickly.
I experienced a little discomfort at first, but it went away. I don't notice it anymore.
Just a heads up on this one, if you mountain bike. The first time I went mountain biking after I had been on T for a while, I sprained myself. My dick had randomly gotten hard at some point, and I was up off the bike seat pedaling for more leverage. Then I hit a rock, the seat jammed up into things and.. owww. It took a few days to feel better.
Jeans are part of the problem, because of the fat and sharp double seam right under the crotch. I had to stop wearing them at all years ago, just because my urethra's unusually close to the surface of my perineum, and just sitting down made jeans seams dig into me. I'd recommend any trousers with a softer crotch seam, or something like karate trousers (which I wear almost all the time!) that don't have a central seam at all there. Maybe experiment with different saddle profiles too?
Compression shorts might help, similar level of protection without the hard plastic cup.
Anlother thought is picking up a chamois. They rock - you don't need to go all out and buy a nice leather one, just pick up one of the newer ones that are used for down hill mountain biking. I have one myself - and while I don't use it all that often, it makes everything contacting the saddle much nicer.
I have this problem sometimes too. It irritation and discomfort doesnt happen all the time, but when it does, its enough to make me squirm.
I have found that riding with my stp/packer helps, as the back, that lies against me is very smooth.
If I dont wear this, I simply stuff a sock down there. Sounds like a stupid thing, but just a soft thin sock (I actually find using those cheap socks you get free on airplanes, the best!) rolled up, in boxer briefs. This way, its always firm agaisnt me, so no moving about and chaffing!
They give out socks on airplanes? Why? I've never flown before.

I have... many many times and I've never seen socks given out on planes.
Shoe stores though, yes. Mainly for womens shoes.

I guess it depends on the length of the flight (and the company maybe...?)
Ive been on flights that werent that long, and dont get anything. But I have also been on flights of up to 12 hours, and that is when you are given socks, a mini travel toothbrush and toothpaste, eye mask thing and a blanket (though I dont think youre allowed to keep them!). I guess it is for comfort since many people sleep during the long time in the air.

It must be a non-US thing, I've flown to Europe twice and never got anything but free drinks.
Ahahaha I've had experience with this... I was cycling with my girlfriend (She is a bicycle nut. Seriously. She looks at bike porn. Okay not literally) But all of the sudden I well.. I smashed it. Which is what I shouted when it happened. I all of the sudden got off the bike, threw it down and started stomping back to her house, and when she asked me what was wrong, I yelled "I SMASHED MY DICK!!!" Which the man crossing the street found to be very disturbing lol.
I've found that angling the seat horn downwards helps. And the padding thing that people have already mentioned, of course. But even then, every now and again I have to stand up on the bike and just give it a rest... Poor thing. :(
I cycle fairly often and dick growth was a problem for the couple of months because it was really sensitive to everything. After that everything started to desensitise and it's completely fine now.
I never had problems with dick grow+bikes, but I was never over sensitive so...
My best advice is to use always, always, always cotton underwear, wether it's boxers or trunks or whatever tickles you fancy.
You can always bike standing. Ya know, without using the seat... that way you're doing more exercise, you're not rubbing against nothing and you'll get awesome butt muscles :D
