Title: facial hair
Post by: wheat thins are delicious on March 09, 2011, 10:26:12 PM
for those with a full and/or full-ish beard and/or mustache, how long were you on T before you had a reasonable amount of facial hair, where you could see it without squinting?

I'm pre-T, but I have a lot of facial hair.

Not what I asked, but thanks for sharing.  How noticeable is it?

Sorry, I meant that I'm sure it varies widely between people.  Some of us are very hairy pre-T, but I also know some guys who after several years still don't have anything noticeable.  In my case, I've never tried, but I could probably grow a full beard and mustache.  I have a chin full of stubble by the end of the day.

Do you shave daily?  I wish I could grow more.  T's working for me but slowly.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious if I don't.  How long has it been since your hairs started coming in?

IDK i started to notice them a few weeks after starting t.  Slowly the borders of my mustache area expanded but the hair there gets no longer.  I've got completely dark hair on the side of my face that is maybe two inches long and some dark hairs coming in on my neck and chin, just a few, most of my hairs are blonde and soft with a few that are blonde and stiff.  It's weird.  I'm looking at my brother for comparison, though I know every person is different even those related.  But his hair color is similar to mine so I am hoping I will  be able to eventually grow facial hair like him, which is all dark.

I'd bet that it will become darker.

For me I started seeing my beard appear within 3 months. But my family, particularly my mom's side, are little hairy beasties (everywhere but the head -- go figure, I haven't lost hair yet there but am tempted to shave it and leave the beard). If you have a cisgendered male brother or uncle to talk with ask them how it grew in. It tends to vary.

I've gotten a lot under my jaw line, a bit more along the jaw and a fuzzy mustache. The last is the one that seems to be taking the longest to come in. I believe it will take about 4-5 years for the full masculanization of T to have an effect.

ETA: as far as hair colour goes, mine has been odd. My family is all dark brown-black hair and we go grey early 40s is the start). My beard has been predominantly dark brown with a few reds (and I mean RED) and a few grays. Go figure.

I'm 15 weeks (3.5 months) and I don't have any visible facial hair. Sideburns aren't longer, no noticeable lip or chin hair. I have peach fuzz-ish type hair, I think.

I'd say at about a year I had some slightly visible, if wispy facial hair that I was extremely proud of at the time. About 2-3 months after that was when I would consider it wearable facial hair. And that was when I was doing a sort of long sideburn goatee combo - mostly because the connection piece on my cheek wasn't growing in. Now, at 2 years 3 months, that piece has grown in as evenly as the rest. Still not comparable in denseness of hair to a cis-guy my age, but getting closer.

At 2 months on T I had tons of peach fuzz come in and remember noticing two dark hairs on my neck and a few more on my sides. At about 4 months there were tons of dark hairs there. At 6 months I grew an okay amount of hair for side burns but it was all over my neck. Now at 16 months I can almost grow a chin strap except for my chin hairs right in the middle, they still seem to be a mix of brown/red/peach fuzz. As for mustache, I got nothing but peach fuzz.

I'd say it was visible around 6 months if I left it for a week or so without shaving.

I'm 1 year and 3 months on t. Over the last few months I've had a real spike in facial hair. My mustache chin and sideburns are noticeable if I don't shave. And i have odd dark hairs coming in on my cheeks. My mom and sister actually said something about how long my chin hair was a few days ago when I hadn't shaved because I'd just gotten surgery and wasn't doing anything but sleeping.
