Title: Comparing Binders Love boat Shop Vs Underworks
Post by: Zash on March 18, 2011, 06:10:32 AM
Hi, I am a 38D. I'm planning to get a new binder. Right now, from all the information I've gathered, Love boat shop and Underworks seems to be the most well reviewed binders. I was just wondering if anyone have tried any binders from Love Boat Shop? Preferably those who are also big up there. I'm a butch, and i own a binder that I got from T-kingdom. However, I am still not satisfied with what I see when i wear the binder because it's not as flat as i want it to be, and instead, it forms a uniboob. Any suggestions or reviews from anyone who has got binders from either Love Boat Shop or Underworks? Reccomendations of binders for big sized breasts would be greatly appreciated as well. Thank you very much.

Welcome to the site Zash

I'm around your size. No experience with the loveboat binders but I've gotten the tritiop (983) and the Double front (997) from underworks and my impression is this.

997
Doesn't work as well, more bounce, overall less comfortable because the bottom rolls and digs into ribs sometimes

983
Works very well, does dig in at underarms, almost entirely flattens

My 983 has lasted every day use (12 hours a day on average) for over a year. Underworks was quick and efficient. Some guys do swear by the 997 so don't let my review stop you, it's just my opinion. I've only had that one a couple months though so I don't know how well it holds up. Look up the word binder in search and you'll no doubt find reviews. Good luck :)

Heya newbie and welcome aboard.
Like Andrew I've got both and I've had a similar experience. the 997 was my first one and the only way I got it to work really well was to double it up (I'm a 40-something D so I feel your pain). It worked okay at first but after a few wears seemed to be already a bit stretched, and at best only gave me weird collarbone-boobs.

Alternately, the 983 works pretty great. I still bounce a bit but it's made it so I can wear button ups and hoodies completely fine, and even some larger/odd fitting t-shirts. I push mine out to the sides as much as possible, and the only problem I've had is again with the weird collarbone lumps. Not NEARLY as bad, though, and I'd rather have weird lumpy things than discernible boobs.

Hey guys. Thanks yeah. Hmm.. I still can't make up my mind as to which binder I should get. :/ I wanna get the tritop from underworks, however, many reviews i've seen states tht it's uncomfortable to be worn. Also, as for Love boat binders, so far, i haven't seen reviews from people who are bigger in size up there. Any idea if it's suitable for people like me? :/

Thank you guys so much for taking the effort to reply yeah. I really appreciate it. :D And, Xyrenth, which binder are you using from loveboat? The jerseyMesh? It seems pretty comfortable by the way you described it. But, how well does it bind? &, it would be great if you could post up some pictures of it. If you don't mind, that is. Thanks alot.

LOVE BOAT ALL THE WAY!

they are so comfortable you forget youre wearing them.
plus you can wear one layer and look great.
even a fairly tight one.

but with underworks you def need to layer and even then it's no where near as good.

I have a pic of my loveboat ill see if i can find it

the underworks one bunches up and makes them look like boobs  -  love boat makes them more peck shaped if anything is visible

I'm a 34DD and can review 4 for you.

997 from underworks.  Argh.  No.  The medium was a little too big and it's just uncomfy.

From loveboat:
The new jersey mesh ($35 or so) in Large.  Just put it on literally 5 minutes ago but I love it.  Flatest I've ever been and it's pretty comfy.  It is NOT as comfy as the LB v-neck (L as well), but I'm a bit flatter.  It's more comfy than the high performance (???I think, the $54 rounded neck) which I also have a large.   The downside is it's pretty short.  I'm 5'4 and it fits ok, but any taller than me and you might have issues.  Would be great for shorter guys who don't want anything digging into their ribs/waist.

I'll write a big review for everyone but I like this jersey mesh. It's not as stiff as underworks but it's closer than most loveboats.  It's like a short 997 with velcro that has a bit of stretch.  Wider coverage than my other loveboat binders and I don't have any underarm or uniboob going on.  I wouldn't exercise in this one, like I would the v-neck but for going out and actually trying to wear a t-shirt, this is SUHWEEEET!  I'll get a pic later or tomorrow :)

i think i'm a B or C
if i can locate a tape measure i'll check for you guys

i bought the high performance binder from love boat and it just looks like a rash vest. nothing like the 997 at all.

High performance binder.
Best thing I ever purchased.

EDIT - Might just add that if your boobs are bigger than mine it may be worth while going for the full length because sometimes I feel like i need a little extra room for my boobs to spread.

Thanks to everyone that posted about the Love Boat ones. I finally ordered one yesterday just for special occasions. I hate to have anything "binding" on on a regular basis but everyone seemed to say those were comfortable so I think I could deal. I like the velcro factor too cause even getting in and out of tight fitting tri-tops is a pain in the ass!

Sorry for my filthy mirror; I really do clean it sometimes.

997 medium
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi22.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb305%2FSherryDeanne%2F102_1683-1.jpg&hash=d9a4fc57aa591f6f6c64af560b0e510609746348)

High Strength (v-neck)  Love, love, love.
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi22.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb305%2FSherryDeanne%2F102_1884.jpg&hash=a2040d4d88905520699c6c990d051889c5abb82c)

New generation mesh.  Like it but it's a tad short and the velcro is a bit wonky.  Pretty darn flat though.
(https://www.susans.org/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi22.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb305%2FSherryDeanne%2F102_1901.jpg&hash=af375e5fa973cf4f257d7620fa16004d2aea59f1)

So yeah, there's no way to get rid of these huge things but I'm flat enough that I can cover it up if I want to.  Mesh is flattest, v-neck is most comfy.  Good luck :)

I'm in the market for a new binder and was planning on just buying a new tritop, as my current one is about a year old, but now this thread has me sufficiently confused.

I'm not very big....about a b, but I tend to mostly wear button ups as I normally don't feel flat enough in t-shirts, but it's going to start getting warmer soon. Any of you guys have suggestions for the best binder to wear with t-shirts?  I guess I'm just wondering what binder is the most flattening without producing the uniboob effect, which for me tends to be more noticeable in t-shirts.

Also, kind of unrelated, but I don't want to make a whole new thread to ask....have any of you guys figured out a way to make the lines from a binder less noticeable?  I have a friend who I haven't come out to and she sees me as fully male...a couple of times, when hugging or something, she's felt the outline of my binder through my shirt and sort of wondered out loud what it was but I had no idea what to say.

I've been wondering this, too. I'd like to know the length compared to a tri-top since a tri-top is too short for me (only because I have a large chest, not because I'm tall).

Looser shirts maybe? What lines are you talking about exactly, like on-contact or visible lines?
As far as shirts go, this may be strictly personal preference, but I actually prefer button-ups during the summer. At least the ones I have, they're a hell of a lot lighter, they don't get all sticky and disgusting, and obviously they hide a LOT better. It might help that I only wear short-sleeved button ups, too.

The new gen mesh is short.  My v-neck is pretty long, *whips out measuring tape*  It's 15" shoulder to bottom, 9.5" from v-neck to bottom, and 6" armpit to bottom.  I guess it's the stretch, but this binder doesn't push my boobs down like all the others, it acts more like a sports bra so that length is plenty.  I have the long version of the high performance, but the binding material is 16-17" shoulder to bottom (it's on, and I'm lazy).  I can measure the mesh later (in the wash) but it's almost too short for me.  All those binders are size L.  Perhaps someone with a short high performance can add in.

It's about the same dimensions as my tri-top. Sadness. My tri top has about the same dimensions but from the collar to bottom it's around 11.5 inches.
Title: Re: Comparing Binders Love boat Shop Vs Underworks

New gen jersey mesh measurements for the large:

Shoulder to bottom seam 14
Neckline to bottom: 9.3
armpit to bottom: 6.2
Circumferance smallest: 32 and largest: 35.  Those are unstretched.  The largest it stretches to is about 38.
I'm 5'4, 140 lbs, 34DD and I'm going to put an extra inch or two of velcro on it to make it snugger.

It's really weird that the measurements arent' that different from my V-neck but it fits much differently.  With the v-neck,  it's cut longer from the shoulder to the arm.  I almost want to pull it up a bit, if that makes sense.  The mesh is shorter through the chest and sits up higher, which helps with underarm issues.

Oh, and I washed the jersey mesh today and it softened up a ton.  Doesn't feel anything like the underworks anymore.

I have one of the velcro short binders in 3XL and it's fantastic. Not too short, I'd say just the right size. I'm a bigger guy (around DD) and I have no complaints. Comfortable (much like a tighter sports bra) and very breathable. I usually tuck a little of my undershirt into the corners so it doesn't cut in, but even when it does cut in it's minor.

The love boat one I just ordered showed up the other day. I can definitely say that I wouldn't have been able to get that thing on at all without the velcro, but that velcro is a bitch to get fastened properly as well. It still looks like I've got something kind of bulky on under t-shirts with it on. At least it doesn't feel like it restricts breathing and it's better than some sports bra.

Ok ... day 2 of trying to figure out this binder thing. Initially when I put it on it felt ok, but I've noticed that trying to do anything in it is just not happening. It does feel like it's constricting being able to take a full breath at all even when just sitting around with it on. I'm not sure I can hang with it. I've tried adjusting how tightly I'm putting it on of course but if I have it at an ok level then it's no better than a $5 sports bra from walmart. I imagine it helps out guys more that have really large chests. I bought this one too because it's a v-neck and I thought it would work better with v-neck t-shirts and button up shirts. With shirts I can get away with it under there but on the t-shirts the fabric part where the v is poofs out. Like it's pretty obvious you're wearing something under your t-shirt.

I know part of this is just the fact that I'm weird about feeling anything constricting around that part of me. But I know enough other guys have these that they must be dealing with them somehow. Any tips you can toss my way? At this point I'm pretty much at the point of giving up on binders.

hm. i don't know about this particular binder, unfortunately....generally, if you're looking for more comfort and less restrictions, there's two ways to go:
either you can just get a more comfortable binder. such as the sports pullover binder by juya.
or you can get a binder that doesn't give much at all and wear it looser.

what i experienced with most double binders,  a brand which i do not particularly like, by the way, was that they got high strength ratings on the love boat site but when i ordered them, they didn't do much to my a-cup and i had to wear them real tight for them to do anything. i prefer a stronger, albeit still comfortable binder that i do not have to wear too tight for it to work.

also, are you sure your binder is the right size for you? you shoul be somewhat able to make the two velcro parts touch without having to pull really

I can get the velcro fastened loosely fairly easily, but if I want it to actually make me flat that's when it becomes a problem in both fastening it and in feeling like it's not too restrictive.

I totally have trouble getting on most sports bras though too.

That's by far the most comfortable binder I own, hmmm.  Have you tried angling the velcro?  You can make it tighter up top where you need it and looser towards the bottom.

the 2nd generation jersey mesh just arrived. the binding power is nice, comparable to the esha extra strength or the tri top i think. this binder feels sturdier than love boats pricier binders, but the material is still comfy- there's mesh on the inside and the outside feels like very sturdy cotton and the binding panel is in between these two layers (you can kinda see it through the mesh). it's cut high enough in the front not to show cleavage and looks a lot like a regular tank top. it seems like a good deal for the price, only downside is that the bottom seam digged in a bit when i first tried it on, now that i angled the velcro it's fine though. and the shoulder straps are wider apart than on some of their other binders i suppose, but that's actually more of a pro for me, giving it a more tank-top like appearance. i wear a size small in all their other binders and i have to say this one is a bit tighter, maybe an inch.
can't tell how durable it is yet, obviously.

Seriously old thread, but incredibly helpful. lol I have the 983 from underworks, and had to cut some off from the bottom as it was cuttin into my rips and curling up. I also had to cut a layer of the compression off, as I ordered a size smaller, to get more binding, which was not  a good idea. But I didn't wanna send it back, it was my only binder at the time.

I now, also have the 997, which is incredible comfy. BUT I've got wide hips and it rolls up into my stomach, so I use prosthetic glue to glue it down at the bottom and it works great. Doesnt move. I do have to adjust every few hours tho, but the uniboobage is significantly less. My fav so far. I've lost 40 pounds, so I need a smaller on now.

I also need a everyday one though, as I've been using the modified 983 (above), and its so stretched out and dirty looking now.

I really don't like the idea of velcro, because of the sound issue and the possibility of it coming loose. Scares me. But I see alot of good reviews about the Loveboat jersey mesh velcro binder.

The pullover looks like it could be comfortable for everyday use:

Does anyone wear their binder 24 hours a day?? I wear my modified 983 all day everyday. BUT it is modified and VERY loose, almost like a seamless sports bra.

I think that I should warn people that loveboat is not discrete packaging. I believe I did have to sign for it but don't recall. But you get a box saying "les loveboat" or something like that. Another thing I dont' think they fit bigger guys. Lots of discussion on this elsewhere. I would guess they are good to about a C cup. If you dont' know how to figure that, there is info online. I would guess it is a difference between under and over the chesticles.

This. If you're above a C, don't bother. Just stick with underworks. I wasted $70 on a LL binder.
