Title: how to deal/feeling depressed...
Post by: kalshady on March 26, 2011, 08:57:33 PM
Aight so most the kids at my college know me as a guy, a select few and student affairs/professors know that im trans, and im out as trans to my closer friends and parents. However my parents are completely against it... not jus in denial, but against it. everytime they call me by my girl name or refer to me as a girl, i cant stand it. it gets more and more irritating each day. i am also feeling depression from this, i think. any suggestions on what to do or how to cope?

While it might not change the situation, I would suggest to get away from your parents for a little while. Maybe stay with a friend? You'll feel a lot calmer without constantly hearing your parents say those things. You can try to plan out what you're going to say to them to address the issue while you're away from them.

That's about all I can think of too, what ML said. My parents (well, my mom-my dad doesn't know) aren't against it at all but she doesn't seem to get it. She still calls me a girl, calls me my legal name from time to time, stuff like that. That's a crap situation though, it's bad enough feeling messed up and depressed, with all that BS on top of it?
Good luck, man. Definitely try to avoid those situations as much as you can, if only for your own comfort.
