Do any of you get irritated with stereotypers?
UGH!!! All I did was mention that allot of girls like sports and oh boy did one of the neighbor ladies give me a look
What kind of stereotyping puts a bug in your sock?
I can think of two.
Women a poor drivers. Yeah right. That is why more and more women are getting CDLs, because we are such a bad driver.
And of course the big one. Transwomen are just perverts preying on our wives and children. Give me a frigging break.
That if you have a short haircut and your a girl then it automatically makes you a Lesbian.
Another one is that men have to be a macho man to be 'real men'. (I'm not sure if that is a stereotype but it's still annoying.)
"Another one is that men have to be a macho man to be 'real men'." -Real men don't eat quiche! (spoken like a Klingon)"
"...a man tells me about some information, how white my sheets can be. He can't be a man because he doesn't smoke the same cigarettes as me! ...Mick Jagger in the song Satisfaction That was the 60's with the televised cigarette ads! All the macho Marlboro men in those ads are dead.
I'm an incomplete stereo Jolene 2.1. The stereo speakers + subwoofer were stolen leaving me with the 2 homemade amps 26 years ago, never replaced those because I worked on the large stereo receivers among other repairs all day. When I got home, I wanted quiet. Now I am nearly deaf with tinnitis the past 15 years...riiiingggg! Not from the stereos, but from my service on an aircraft carrier.
Joelene
Hugs Joelene, I've been hearing the ringing sound for several years also
LOL... I was talking to the lady that gave me a look last night about this very subject (Gender stereotyping) and she seems to have relaxed a bit and it went well
Here's another one...
Women are nit picky clean and men are a bunch of slobs that have to be picked up after... What!?!?! People are people and gender has nothing to do with how clean or not an individual may be

I was in a car with a woman, no need to tell who, and when we got into the parking house by her workplace I noticed a support column beside her parking lot, to which a thick foam/rubber kind of material was strapped. I asked what it was for, and she answered with a chuckle: "oh it's just because we're so many women who work here".
I just sat there stunned and silent for a moment. She then said that this stereotype was "actually true".

Russian - Настоящие мужчины не едят пирог с заварным кремом
French - Les vrais hommes ne mangent pas de quiche
Italiano - Gli uomini veri non mangiano quiche
Icelandic (for Minier) - Real menn ekki borða quiche
German - Echte Männer essen keine Quiche
Greek - Οι αληθινοί άντρες δεν τρώνε κις
I'm a guy who writes poetry so I must be gay
My mother likes sports so she has to be a lesbian
If a female mechanic and a guy are in the room the guy clearly knows how to fix a car better than the mechanic because he is male. ::)
Stupid stereotypes
Real men don't spara quiche - Vulcan
Real inhiudh don't eat quiche - Romulan
I'm with you on women and sports, the women who don't like sports are in a (fat) minority. Real American girls know how to play. Weak women sit at home and wonder why guys don't date them.8
I was talking to a friend at work whose daughter has just got married. His mother took the bride aside and told her that she needed to take care of his 'desires' whenever he had them, or he may find someone else. We both felt rather sick.
Cindy
Women drivers no good? I guess that's why Sabine Schmidt holds the lap record for the Nurburgring. 8)

I hate that stereotype! My boyfriend believes it too, and my boyfriend believes I'm a girl, so it's annoying. I do suck at avoiding poles in parking garages, but that's because I'm absent-minded and have trouble focusing on more than one task at a time, and when I'm just leaving or almost parking I tend to slack off the most, so I have a few dents. :embarrassed: But it's not because I'm a girl! And my mom is a
far better driver than my dad- my dad and I have the same driving problem.
I think women tell themselves they're bad drivers and make it come true a lot of times. I've seen a similar phenomena occur with women and mechanical/ technical stuff and in math and science courses. They say they can't understand it. And of course if they believe they can't, they can't.
I hate being told that I'm too sweet and sensitive to be a boy. Lots of boys that I've known have been sweet; most of them just kept it to themselves around other men especially, like I do now for the most part. Of course I was openly sweet when I thought I was a girl! Girls are allowed to be sweet in public, so I was. But yeah, if my bf tells me one more time that boys aren't sweet and sensitive... :icon_punch: The irony is that he is definitely sensitive and describes himself as sweet too- just only to his girlfriends. :eusa_doh:
Also, it annoys me when people assume that because they know me as a girl, that when my bf tells them I'm about 80% into guys and about 20% into girls (really it's more like 70/30, but I digress,) that I'm being bisexual to be sexy. I'm a dude anyway, but there are girls who are mostly straight but still bisexual who are actually bisexual and could have a long-term relationship with a girl; they're not saying it for other peoples benefit. I guess that's not really a gender thing so much, but it annoys me.
Wow, Janet, I love it when you speak Klingon!
