I just got my first binder yesterday. And I think it's too large, but I'm not sure how to tell.
I'm a 42B. And I know I'm not small enough to be COMPLETELY flat. But this binder doesn't make me much flatter than my sports bra.
Also, I was wondering if it's better to wear a sports bra underneath the binder? First I put the binder on my itself, and it didn't feel right. Basically, they bounced around too much. I felt like I needed to wear the sports bra to hold them in place, and then wear the binder to flatter me a little bit more.
I got the 997 binder from Underworks. I got the size large since that was the size that matched me. Actually I could have gone into size extra large since my measurements were right on the line in between. but I went the size slightly smaller. And so I'm really surprised to think that it could be too large. I'd be real surprised to find that I needed to go down basically TWO sizes smaller than me and get the medium.
Was that my mistake? Was I supposed to order a much smaller size than I really am?
JohnAlex I'd guess it's too big because I'm a 38D and a medium isn't small enough for me so since you're even smaller I would guess you'd need smaller than a medium. Really I got the impression it was just the 997 not binding so well because my tri-top is much better. The 997 leaves me bouncing awfully and just ugh
The good news is that I hear they have a great return/exchange policy if it doesn't work out for you.
Hm. Thank you. I think I will try to get the tri-top then. It's really too bad I can't try these on before I buy them.
I read their return policy and it says that you can't return if it doesn't have the tags, and I rip the tags off of everything I get. So I don't know if it's worth trying to return. maybe I should just donate it to that place.
Did you measure how it tells you to on the site?

Of course I did. I did exactly what they said. which is why I'm surprised it was so far off.
Its sounds way too big. Especially if its only doing the same as a sports bra and they are bouncing.
How is the compression on your stomach area?

About as pathetic as it is on my chest. lol. I have a little bit of a stomach, and it makes no difference there at all as far as compressing it.
I think I'm just going to go back and order a small.
it's possible that there was a problem and they sent you the wrong sized one. Maybe contact them and ask?
nah, the tag I ripped off had an "L" for large.
I agree with andrew, im the same size as him, 38 D, and i wear a medium, and im going to try a small next to see if i can get flatter. the medium was good the first few days, but after it even stretched just a little, i think it is too big. i def think you would be a medium or small
When I was binding with Underworks merchandise, I found that I couldn't follow their sizing charts at all. I had to order a size smaller than they said to order, and when it stretched out a bit, it was a little too loose.
If you were on the border between sizes and went with the larger size, you might well need to go down two sizes.
