Title: Does anyone have the federal program for blue cross blue shield?
Post by: Lee on April 04, 2011, 03:27:36 AM
I'm having a hard time figuring out if any therapy/hormones/anything really is covered through them.  I've been hunting through the website, but it doesn't seem to explain things anywhere.  Does anyone know what they cover or how to figure this out?

I had Blue Cross (federal) until I turned 65 and my military insurance kicked in.  Blue Cross paid for my therapy with me paying a co-pay.  I didn't start hormones until after I'd stopped Blue Cross, though, so a younger person needs to chime in about that. :P

Thanks Kate, that's good to hear :)
Did you need a referral or anything first?

No, I just found a counselor and she submitted the paperwork.  I never handled any of it.  I did ask if she accepted BC/BS.  I may have looked her up in the directory of approved providers - I don't remember.

My presenting issues weren't gender-related.  I worked into those later, but I don't think that would make a difference.

Good luck. :)
