Title: Idol is back on, how many others watch it.
Post by: Kendall on January 23, 2007, 06:45:28 PM
New season is back on. Who else watches the entertainment that is known as Idol (in my case American Idol)?

Hi There:

I watch it.  You know I like the audition shows better than the show itself.

But what I'm hooked on is Hereos.

Idol, Survivor and the Amazing Race are about the only shows we watch.  Oh, and Last Comic Standing in Summer.

Oh.
An "Idol" sounded interesting.
Ah.

Um, to be polite, no. One of those shows I will leave the room for. But then, that describes most of what passes for entertainment on television.

Just call me finicky ;)

Idol is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine, but whenever I start to get involved with it all of the performers that I like get voted out straight away and further viewing becomes a little bit pointless :).

They got a little bit experimental on Australian Idol last year and let the performers use guitars while they were singing, and perform original songs. I'm hoping they do the same this year, it definitely made everything a little bit less predictable.

The best performers Ive seen on Americal Idol never made it to the finals... they may have made it to the compitition but allways got washed out... People dont want someone with tallent, and invididuality... they want someone who likes to sing karioke<sp?>

I don't like watching it either.  In fact I rarely watch TV.  I think it should be more aptly name "Americal Idle" as that's what it causes many americans to do.

I watch it occasionally if there is nothing else on.  The auditions are the worst...I feel so sorry for those people who honestly think they can sing well and get bashed.  I suppose that's what always scared me about singing....when I was pursueing my music degree I met so many students who really thought they had talent but couldn't hit a note with a hammer and I kept wondering "Am I one of those people?".  The stuff nightmares are made of....LOL

Gill makes me watch it :) - No not really I like to watch it especially during the auditions.  I can't believe that these folks really think they sound good.  I guess the real culprits are their family and friends who say that they do.

I kinda suspect that most do it just to get on TV, to get their 15 minutes of fame.  Another show that I like is called "So you think you can dance".  Now these guys are good.  Some of the things that they can do is absolutely amazing.

I guess the key thing to remember is that this is all just entertainment, a nice break from the idiocy of the world in which we live, and if it brings a smile or a laugh then what the heck, enjoy yourself.

Me too Gill. Prison Break and Heroes (which run in succession on Monday nights here) are my addictions.

Not much of an Idol fan, but I'd watch it if nothing else was on.
