Title: *sigh* Why?
Post by: Janet_Girl on April 12, 2011, 12:55:04 AM
No matter what is going on in your life, there always seems to be that one thing that have to ask "Why?"

I know several people are facing things in their lives that just does not seem to be fair or right.  So why?

In my case it is why have I not heard from the courts regarding my disability.  And if I am not going to get it why can I not even get an interview for a job.

I am not looking for answer, just putting out the question.  Why?

I can feel you on that one Janet

Not only do I often *sigh* and ask why... I often ask "What the hell?" as well in regards to several things going on in my life

Sounds like a reasonable answer to me.

Love it.

I hope things get resolved for you soon, Janet. You've already got some nice roses blooming, so you're due for a break.

Because you have to travel through all the thorny issues, just to get to the rose petals.

I couldn't agree more, Janet. I do have to say that both Jenny and Sara B.'s sentiments are accurate. Sometimes we just have to remind ourselves that these trials will only make us stronger in the end, and that when we overcome them we will be able to look back and laugh at just how impossible they once seemed.

The thorns are of no use at all. Flowers have thorns just for spite!

My biggest "why?" is, "WHY ME?"  As rare as trans is, why did I get stuck with this cruel joke of nature? After a short pity party I consider that it coulb be soething far worse like MS or many other things. It's sad that TS is most often looked at as YOUR FAULT rather than something you got dealt. People are at least sympathetic to you when you tell them you got cancer, MS, etc. Not so much sympathy when you tell someone you are TS.

I have been lucky though, so far. The 3 friends I have told have been very sympathetic and supportive although they are VERY concerned what the consequences mean for me and my family.

I'm reminded of the "Hagar the Horrible" cartoon where his boat is thrown on the rocks by a storm, there are seamonsters threatening from the waves, and arrows being fired from the shore. He looks up and asks, "Why Me?"

And an answer comes down from the clouds, "Why Not?"

I think s**t happens because the world is full of a*******s!  You just have to dig your heels in and go the distance.  After transition is over I hope to be able to look back and think that I can cope with anything.

@ Janet Lynn:

Girl, I MAJORLY feel for you.  It's a crock!  It's not your fault!  It really blows!  Sorry, I know that didn't help.  To you, Jenny and some of the others on here having trouble finding a suitable job, how about this idea?

Okay, so you can't find a job.  However, you have skills.  Companies need those skills.  Change the way you deliver your skills to those companies needing your skills instead of getting a job, how about freelancing?  The most successful freelancers often times are NOT the most talented.  They ARE the best at marketing themselves.  The good news is that you can learn how to market yourself.

My personal "bullcrap bugaboo" is this:

Undoubtedly, I know I have the skill and talent to make lots of money, but I lack the drive to do so.  Yeah, people with read this and say, "Bull, Lacey!"  Hey, I'm not gonna try and convince anybody.  Two things.  Back in school days, I was a top student and I mean  a TOP student and have the academic record to prove it.  Well, I've studied business building and the lives of business tycoons for years with intensity and focus.  Also, I've really thought about what they do.

"Just sitting and thinking about business doesn't mean you know squat about it, Lacey."

Oh?

Consider this:

Back in 1905 and again in 1913, a low-level clerical worker in Germany without formal degrees or experience sat around and thought ... about physics.  That's ALL he did was think ... no experience ... no credentials.

"Yeah, Lacey, SOOO?"

So, his name was Albert Einstein and by sheer thinking, and nothing else, he absolutely turned the world of physics (... those with credentials and experience aplenty ...) totally upside down.  Remember the movie you have all seen of the actual atom bomb detonating and blowing the ever-loving bejeezus out of everything in sight?  Well, it was Einstein's THINKING that made that a reality once the will to apply his thoughts accreted into formal action.  Point made.

No, I'm NOT comparing myself to Einstein.  I AM saying that one can accomplish much indeed by thinking and observing ... and then APPLYING it ... to whatever end.

Talent and know-how for making money?  I've got it in spades.  Drive for making money?  I way lack it.  That's my foible.  As I'm typing this, THIS song is blaring away on the radio:

Guns N' Roses - Welcome To The Jungle - Live At The Ritz 88 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_enNmzWn6Y#)

It is this "Jungle" aspect of business that I absolutely despise!  It is THIS that makes hustling after a buck so repugnant to me.  Life does NOT have to be this way.  It REALLY doesn't.  Compete?  No!  Cooperate?  Yes!

My Achilles Heel.  Sorry, folks.

Janet, I MAJORLY feel for you, Girl.   Learn to market yourself, freelance and charge accordingly, and your money hassles are over and you do not need either a job or disability.  You way have the skills and can so do it.  Believe.

Hugs    ;)   Lacey

I'm starting to wonder if people actually notice my sig says "stranger" and not "stronger" - I find the original "stronger" version really annoying when I hear it, that's why I like "stranger", so much more true :).

<blink blink>  you're night, I didn't notice.  I tend to scan read and self correct perceived typos on the fly.  While your statement is clearly not a typo upon closer reading, my mind autocorrected until you pointed it out.  <embarrased now>   I'm betting a lot of people do the same these days.  It also doesn't help that I'm a touch dyslexic so I also tend to correct automatically for that as well.

My brother has said some strange things in my lifetime: "there is no why," and "patience is a waste of time." Maybe he's onto something after all, halfway.

Lacey, your multicolor posts make my day :)

I ask why a lot too.  Life just doesn't make any sense.  That's the conclusion I've come too after spending most of my life trying to make sense out of it.  The other day I ran over a piece of metal and ended up with a flat tire.  There was a ton of traffic going both ways, but I was the one who hit it.  I asked why quite a bit that day.

And I hate that saying, whatever doesn't kill you makes you stronger.  Because sometimes it doesn't.  I like the stranger version much much better, and it's definitely more applicable to my life.

This one of life's great imponderables. why does the person who gets a flat tire have a flat spare tire as well? Why do you get a flat when you have been on HRT and not realised your upper body strength has gone and you cannot jack the car up  Happened to me had to ask a neighbour to help me. He thought I was such a wimp  as I was in boy clothes

I know!  I hated having to get someone else to change the tire.  I just don't have the upper body strength yet.  Even then, it took three guys to get it done because the lug nuts were on there so tight (so then I didn't feel quite as bad  )  And yes...the spare was flat.  One of them took it to be aired up and once it was put on the car, I went a few feet and the spare came off the rim.   ::)

I wouldn't go back for the world but if you wanted to change the thread to unseen problems I would add this as one  Neighbour; pick the tire out of the car and bring it here. Cindy, I can't undo the bolts that keep the spare in the car. Neighbour, doesn't say anything, just looks, 'What a poofter'  Me Oh well.

Thank you, holding next door neighbour's baby talking to his wife, who I think had caught on.

This was last year, neighbour I think now understands.
