Title: A paper from the NEJM
Post by: Padma on April 12, 2011, 09:57:00 AM
I've just read a clinical practice paper in the New England Journal of Medicine by Louis J. Gooren, M.D., Ph.D., entitled "Care of Transsexual Persons" published 31st March 2011. The précis reads:

"This Journal feature begins with a case vignette highlighting a common clinical problem. Evidence supporting various strategies is then presented, followed by a review of formal guidelines, when they exist. The article ends with the author's clinical recommendations."

There's quite an in-depth (from my point of view!) discussion of risks and contraindications concerning hormones etc., which I found fascinating. Unfortunately, it's a subscription/pay-to-view article, but the link to it is here:

I'vw emailed the author to ask permission to quote some of it here.
