Title: uhh, bowel movements, does it have anything to do with estrogen/testosterone?
Post by: Elijah3291 on April 13, 2011, 12:28:22 AM
So, I have had er, digestive problems in the past.  Diarrhea, constipation, the works really, and I have heard that sometimes women have more digestive problems then men, so I was hoping that testosterone would help out with this, but it seems to have gotten worse.  to the point where its effecting my everyday life, having to be able to find a place where I can crap, and sometimes it gets so bad that I have to get up and leave during class.  maybe it is stress or just the foods that I am eating, but its really becoming a problem, having to go so many times a day.

its getting to the point where all of the wiping is giving me a rash, maybe i am wiping the wrong way.

anyway, before I gross everyone out, my main question is do digestive problems change/ get worse on HRT, can you tell me your experiences, maybe what i have is just normal, maybe IBS

Dude im glad someone has finally brought this up. i have the same exact problem. its gotten bad. ive gotten like scared of going out to public places due to my fear of crapping in public. sorry to hear about the rash man, ive experienced that in the past. i never thought that T could help, but it would make me all the more excited about starting, as if i could be more excited already.

Well all I can vouch for is pre t FTM, and I'm young but still I poop maybe 3-5 times a week, though I read that other countries than Westernised ones crap way more often, with more bulk so I guess it is mostly to do with food/ fibre intake.

Tbh my mum actually has to regulate coffee (laxitive effect) with tea (constipator!) and so do I to you know, keep it comfortable. I would imagine men poo more than women for some reason, maybe T has has an effect especially with a sensitive bowel? Input from the other side would help.

(TMI below perhaps?)
I wipe back to front but I think that's wrong, it's more convenient since I'm already sitting, I'd say use softer tissue since I guess you GO a lot.

maybe there are other people who have the same problem, but are just to embarrassed to talk about it?

what did you do for the rash? it kinda burns.

(This is kinda awkward, but I guess the input helps?)
Yeah, I'm not on T yet, and I have had constipation problems in the past. I was too embarrassed to say anything to my parents, so I just had to get over it on my own. I don't know what made it stop though.

I don't have a specific "wiping pattern", but if you have a rash, you should probably follow Dr. Evil's plan and get some Preparation H or something. That'll probably help.

Diaper rash products might help, since they would be very light and there should be a bunch of products cuz I guess babies get this a bunch. Maybe aloe-vera tissue paper? In the UK they do infused toilet paper or something always seemed a bit OTT but I can see the sue now LOL!

you know the kind of toilet paper in public places? i usually use that kind, its really rough but its so cheap and I am on a low budget.  Also when i get constipated I have to use enemas and I think they are kinda messing me up and making me less self sufficient/ dependent on the enema

Im sure this is tmi, but we are all guys here, but if any ladies reading know any answers please feel free

I wouldn't get dependant on enemas, that might be causing the 'looser' problems in the first place! Just drink coffee, it's the English way to take a dump.

Kinda related, I sometimes have really painful farts that feel like I might follow through, sometimes I have to check. I think we have transgressed the need for 'tmi' warnings by now right? On the plus side it makes me damn well feel like one of the guys. when they pop out.

It might be because I have a bit of a fart phobia around friends and I spend weeks for example at my kinda-girlfriend's house staying over and do minimal silent farts, then come home and find they just try to escape REALLY fast ALL at once... Kinda hurts.

Ps Elijah try carrying wetwipes with you, that might help when you're out!

Well when I can't afford enemas i just fill a 2 liter full of water. then forcibly insert it in my anus and squeeze so it cleans you out real good.

Well I think it would be good to get the mtf perspective, it's good to know these things in advance and be open about it as I definitely have never seen any info about this sort of thing concerning HRT.

All I can say is that I pooped before T and i've pooped after T.. depends what I'm eating to how much I am pooping. I had hemmroids before, and I still have em now. Suckers burn and make walking painful, and they like to bleed... anyhow.

If you're crapping at home, and you know you're going to wiping lots from pooping, sometimes an easier/nicer cleanup is wetting the TP.. saves your bum from horrible TP burn, and also cleans up with less Tp.. just a thought. I rarely do it, but my dad has always been a fan of jumping right up on the sink and washing his ass.

Hormones definitely have an effect on the digestive system, but like every other system they affect, digestive system effects are unpredictable and individually-variable. I personally have found my system has been behaving much better since starting T. I have Crohn's disease but I've been almost entirely asymptomatic for months.

What to do if you have digestive problems: Eat healthier. Stop using enemas; use stool softeners instead, and be patient. Figure out if there are foods that bother you, and don't eat them.

What to do about skin irritation: Wash with water instead of wiping with TP. Use Preparation H to soothe irritation.
