Title: Bottom surgery question?
Post by: Alex201 on April 13, 2011, 07:42:41 PM
Do you need a letter from a therapist for bottom surgery?

Yes. I think you need two, actually.

AAhh, why must I need permission for something I've wanted all my life. I guess they just want to make sure I'm not nutty and am serious about this. Oh well....

Thanks

Alex, I don't know how much you know, but you need to be careful.  Penis surgeries aren't all that great yet.  Do some research before trying to hop in.  I don't mean to be a total downer, but even with the surgery, it won't be all that comparable to a cisguy's penis.

You'd think if someone had already undergone HRT and top surgery that they would be pretty certain what gender they were at that point.. :-\

Yeah....I'm actually waiting several years to see if they get more advanced. I dont want to rush into anything.

Well the surgery is pretty dangerous too.  Better to be safe than sorry.

Ah, I see.  That's good.  Don't get too down.  There are plenty of alternatives until then  :)

It's retarded if you ask me, that they need a letter, but I guess it makes sense that the surgeons would want to cover their ass. Liability and all that.

I will forever disagree.

Cis guys have all sorts of different bodies and all sorts of different penises. If you were to go with meta then it's not much different than a guy with hidden penis or micro penis. Guys that really want bottom surgery and end up getting it tend to be happy with it.

Well, I was just talking about the general experience.  Typically guys have a average sized penis that can penetration along with testicles that are sensitive.

Yea I'm gonna side with Nygeel here. (NSFW) http://transbodypride.tumblr.com/post/4083026524/sharing-metoidioplasty-and-scrotoplasty-results (http://transbodypride.tumblr.com/post/4083026524/sharing-metoidioplasty-and-scrotoplasty-results) It may not be huge, but it's certainly acceptable in my eyes, and all from your own body (aside from the testicle implants anyway haha) Definitely better than nothing for those of us with more extreme bottom dysphoria. And I dunno, meta seems pretty good to me so far, lol.

both of you made valid points.  SOMETIMES when guys are just learning about their surgical options then think they are going to be getting a "real" penis that works like a bio males penis. However it seems most people who do get bottom surgery, no matter which they choose, they end up satisfied with the results.
