Okay okay, so this topic is NOT about packers. I promise.
Anyway, I went to the local thrift store today and bought some real guy clothes. Thank god. But as I tried on a bunch of different jeans and pants, I realized that none of them fit me the way that I wanted them to. I didn't really expect them to, but still. For a guy, I have quite a substantial booty...and thighs...and hips, so obviously man pants don't fit me like I want them to, but I wonder, is there a certain cut or style - other than bell bottoms that will help my thighs and hips look smaller? Would wearing a long black t-shirt under my shirt and tugging it down help at all, or just make me look goofy?
Any ideas, guys?
I don't see how bell bottoms would help give you less curves. I would assume the opposite. I would pick a cut that's loose in the thigh. Layers help smooth out bulges. I don't think the color of the shirts matter. Constantly tugging on your clothes can look goofy. I've always had luck with button ups. Double pockets and distracting prints help hide the fact that I'm binding.
I only mentioned the other things because that's what I've been told at other forums so far. I'm just trying to get more ideas and am hoping to run across something that I haven't thought of and haven't been suggested yet. Well, the pants that I got today are a little loose in the thighs, they were the only things that I felt even somewhat comfortable in, some of the other things I tried just made me feel like a slob. I'm not a fan of skinny jeans by any means, but I can't stand when my back pockets are down in the backs of my kneecaps. Drives me crazy. Thanks for your input though!
A lot of people hate pleated pants these days, but they do give you more room in the thighs.

They hate pleated pants because they make people look fat. D:

I go to the gap for my jeans because they have shorter lengths available compared to most places. You can always buy a size larger in the waist and wear a belt which would give more butt/thigh room.
What helps me is to wear your jeans sort of low on your butt, that helps make it look flat.

And as a result make your hips look
huge, even if you have none.
Straight leg jeans and slim cut usually work for me... maybe slim cut a size too large, so they don't pull on your hips. I agree with crazyandro, wearing your jeans low flattens you out a bit. Avoid anything that flares significantly, it emphasises curviness and makes you look shorter.
Wearing jeans at hip level tends to get rid of my hip issue and I go for boot-cut jeans because they give the smooth look. Agreeing that bell-bottoms won't help. I had an ex who had no thighs basically and she wore bell-bottoms because they made her thighs look bigger. Cargo pants might detract from those areas. Also darker jeans will make things look a little smaller vs. lighter jeans.
Baggyish skater jeans can help.

Seconded. I have the same body proportion issues, and this is essentially the style I wear and it works really well for me. I get mine from PacSun, they're called 'skinny' but they don't look it, they're more like a loose yet slim fit if that makes sense. I get them a size bigger than necessary and they work really well for me.
Boot-cut jeans usually work quite well for me, since I was cursed with big hips and ass too - they seem to make everything a lot more even. I bought straight-leg suit trousers yesterday, which seem to just accentuate my hips, so stay away from those.
Hoppin' on the bootcut train here, I've got a weirdass body shape and have mostly women's jeans but since they're all bootcut, they seem to work pretty well. And with the right shoes they make me look a bit less...midgety. I second whoever said darker jeans, too.
Wear the next size up and use a belt.

I love straight cut jeans. They hide everything evil for me. Boot cut also works for me. There are also cargo pants, which I love. They're usually more baggy then other pants so they hide curves well.
I also wear some compression shorts. That seems to help level out my hips and thighs. I just get the cheap ones from walmart.
I was helped out by my sister on this issue, she's a professional fashion designer, so I can tell you she knows what she's talking about.
I wear all black pants because it eliminates any shadow around your curves, making you look slimer. My most successful look which was recommended by my sister was that with my black pants I wear a black shirt to match, then the line between where shirt and pants meet is kinda blurred, it means the eye isn't instantly drawn to hip level and makes your whole body look longer. I wear my black pants right up around my waist because they're big and baggy with a very thing waist, then black shirt over the top. The bottom of my pant legs have drawstrings in them, so you can pull them in and make a bit of a poof there (a very manly poof, thank you very much) which works a little to ballance the waist and thigh area.
My sister also told me making sure your clothes have a focal point away from the areas you don't like is always great to stop people from noticing them. My pants have huge zippered pockets in them around knee height that do the job awesome :D
I agree with wearing straight leg, also wearing them a bit below your hip bones helps.
I don't know if you're looking for advice on pants only...and depending on where you live...it is coming close to summer, so what about shorts?
I'm a strong advocate of cargo shorts. But I don't know much about that, myself... I'm used to wearing jeans year round, even in 80 degree weather. I couldn't handle the self consciousness with my girly thighs and etc etc etc it was just too much. I wore shorts in public for the first time in three years last summer, when I was transitioning.
I have to vouch for cargo shorts or perhaps torn baggy denim shorts, by shorts i mean to just below knee level. Goirls don't tend to wear those here, they are nice and cool and since there is no variation in the thickness of the leg area, if you get the right size they will hand from the widest point in your thighs and eliminate any shape or what not there, just remember to wear a belt so they don't fall off ;d get ones with a bunch of pockets so they are distracting.

And pleats are just ugly.
i have a question regarding cargo shorts - i feel like all pants that don't have back pockets (or very small back pockets, or back pockets like most cargo pants, where all you can see is the flap: http://uncrate.com/p/2006/12/flannel-cargo-pants.jpg (http://uncrate.com/p/2006/12/flannel-cargo-pants.jpg) )and have "angled" pockets in the front make my butt look ridiculously large (even though in most other pants i have no noticeable behind) and the front pockets make my upper thighs look wider than they are. do you guys not have that problem or do you just choose cargo pants that have more jeans-style pockets? i guess it might be because of my body type ??? i'm really slim throughout so what gets by clothing accentuated will stick out..
I generally wear boot-cut jeans nowadays. And I'll agree with previous posters that a little extra room in the waist means a bit more space in the ass/hips/thighs. A word of caution, however; sometimes you get the clown effect where there's too much extra room in those areas and you end up looking like Ronald McDonald. It really depends on the cut and how/where the jeans hang on your body. If you have the chance to try them on before buying, always do so.
I recently have fallen in love with the "Dungaree" style of pants. They're super wide legged [made to fit over construction man boots] and have a great feel to them. [Though I suppose I don't actually have much of an ass]
