So, these days are holiday season and beaches being close by, it's a shame not to go there.
So I'm considering whether to use a 2-piece or just the traditional shirt+shorts
Besides that, what would be something nice to bring to the beach ?
Your favorite chemical for relaxing on a nice sunny day ?
etc, yeah. Let the thread drift begin.
I bring the dog, water , and surfboards. If I hade a bigger truck I would bring the livingroom sofa.
( I live across the street from the beach so It`s mostly just self and back home for anything I need.) Girls boardshorts and a one peace under that.
Were there a beach anywhere near me, I'd probably go with shirt/shorts for myself. I got some very unflattering pictures taken of me in a one piece last year at a pool party. That won't be happening again. :icon_burn:
Aside from that, sunscreen. Lots of sunscreen. :D
A friend with lots of Shark Repellant for sale, and me with my scuba gear and a big fin on my back
I'm going to the cape next month so won't be swimming, but do need beachy clothes. I usually do a white t-shirt and board shorts cause I'm boring.
Warning: random photo alert. It's raining and cold here, so I drudged up a bit of summer from last year.

As for what I'm going to wear to my brother-in-law's pool this summer, ARGH. Shoot me now. I have no flipping idea.
Erm, Book.
It depends on what kind of beach trip it is. For a short hit-and-run i'd take:
1. Cooler with favorite adult beverage and maybe some water.
2. Sun screen.
3. Beach chair.
4. Book.
5. Maybe a beach umbrella.
For a bigger beach party kind of thing you need to think about food and a way to cook it. And you need an adequate supply of the adult beverages as well :)
Private beach or Public?
Yes
Beach chair, beer, BBQ, more beer, some green bud and nothing else. But I like the 'clothing optional' beaches.

(Note: Green bud is good! How about Hawaiian gold frappe?)
Well, hell ... FINALLY!
No longer am I the only one who thinks this way on here! Tekla and Lacey: Susan's Place's Free Spirits! "Sunshine & Daydreams" by The Grateful Dead plays away in the background.
Beach? Nah. Resort? YES!!!

Check out the TAMPA information. Been there and done that ... about 60 times give or take a few. DANG, how I miss it! I'm mean, I REALLY miss it! Like, I really DO!
8) Lacey :D the card-carrying :o Nudist!
Google AANR sometime, gals and guys. 8) 8) 8) Meet me at Caliente, baby!!!
Yeah, but I have a real problem with radios or tape players at the beach, a guitar OK.
I like the Sonoma Coast beaches myself.

Well, I'm in Portland now, so I should try the Sonoma Coast scene. Gotta give it a go. Gotta do the umbrella trip though ... see below.Oh, Caliente has music (at unannoying levels) over their very good house system and has live music on Saturdays and Sundays. Since I'm transitioning, the for-now wife wants to tank the marriage. Can't say I blame her. Well, I almost opted to stay back in Tampa and live at Caliente, but ...
A year-and-a-half ago, I had an actinic keratosis the size of a quarter removed surgically. Very bad news. Moreover, I've developed other smaller ones here and there. The cause? Too much sun exposure. At Caliente, I'd be either on the deck or in the pool all damned day ... 9 hours plus.
Hell, if I stayed and lived there, I'd be flirting with disaster ... sarcoma. Sheeeuuuttt! Sigh, there THAT went. I could so live at Caliente. I could so do so!:-\ :P ;) Lacey
Sun protection & swimwear water so you don't get dehydrated
I used to surf and enjoyed it. For many reasons I gave up. We/I have the best beaches in the world within 10 minutes. I never go to sit on the beach, weird.
Can't understand why any one would, I'll walk or jog them, But go for a day to sit on them :P . I suppose it's a case of what you got you are used too.

Ditto for me. I go under protest. If I go, I have a preference for Lake Michigan beaches (at college, there was a nude pool across the street from my dorm that I enjoyed, but that pool is long gone).
Give me a hike through flowery alpine meadows or northern forests, or a bike ride on a deserted road bordered by corn fields. With my wife, the best seems to be hiking Acadia--mountains with unspoiled views of fiord and ocean--followed by tea and popovers at the Jordan Pond House. Take? Water, a first aid kit and flashlight (in case I get too distracted by the view to notice the passage of time), insect repellent, and sun screen. Wear? Comfortable clothes, sturdy shoes, and a hat.

I prefer mine next to vineyards. There is always a winery at the end.

Wine is fine: Salute! I like the cider mill, especially the Dexter Cider Mill, though I've not been able to get back there in years, on a crisp fall afternoon: fresh cider and homemade donuts.

And this is Sonoma and Napa, beyond fine wine, the best in the world. And I think that there is something in the California State Constitution that requires people here to like the beach. I think it's Article 2, section III, that states "And if you don't like the beach, move back to Iowa or Oklahoma or wherever it is you came from."
