What would happen if suddenly and magically all men (on the planet) began to menstruate and all women stopped doing it every 28 days?
I'll leave my answer for later. ;)

The doctor's offices around the world would be awfully busy trying to figure out was going on.
Melissa
A female priest I knew once posed a similar question.
Something about menstruation would become a sacrament.
they might be [more sensitive toward women]. i recently heard about a study that said gay women have [fewer and milder pms symptoms] than straight women, because their partners are more understanding, sensitive, and supportive of them when they're suffering.
On a related note, if men had hot flashes, estrogen would be in the drinking water.
Robyn
Paid menstruation leave.
>:D
Like everything else that has to do with men's ailments, it becomes top priority.

I think there would be no more market for Pit Bulls, since there would be one on every corner.

The idea of men having PMS...
The murder and crime rate would probably have to be shown in scientific notation...
The species would not survive.
We would be doomed...

I like all the answers so far...just keep on thinking..... :D
just a quick thought here....if that were to happen, we'd probably have a menstruation holiday every month. ;)

BANK TELLER used to be a very respectable, powerful, highly paid job. That is, until the bank managers found that women could do the job just as well as the men. DOWN went the power, pay and prestige.
Tink, your idea really puts the 'men' in MENstruate >:D >:D

Ok, well here's the answers:

Let's see... Men having PMS and ALL ON THE SAME DAY???
The species wouldn't have lasted long enought to put one stone on top of another let alone build civilization!

EEEEEeeeeeewwwwwwwww!
To the practical--
Men would have to acknowledge they DO have emotional cycles. (http://www.isisboston.com/Treatmentroom/menscycles.htm)
QuoteJust as with women, men's emotions, sexual drive, energy level and competitive edge are all tied into gland function and streams of biochemicals.
Without the monthly red flag, it's too easy for guys to ignore their circles, just assuming they're always the same.
Male cycles was one of those topics nobody (guys) wanted to talk about (along with AIS females, for example.)
Karen
I can just picture sporting goods stores selling camo colored maxi pads for deer hunters. They would probably be made to warm up when shaken or kicked, too. We'd never hear the end of the rooster crowing.

Well, I wouldn't be too happy, that's for damned sure! I consider myself lucky not to have to deal with periods. Besides, how fair would it be to make men deal with both menstruation and susceptibility to being kicked in the balls? (Further question: how would this work, exactly, physiologically speaking? Would this use an existing hole, or would a new one suddenly appear?)
But anyway...
If men had periods, they would constantly talk about how lucky the world is, because if women had periods, they would break down from the emotions and the pain and the food cravings, and the end of the world would be nigh. Obviously such a dramatic bodily function can only be dealt with properly by tough, manly men. ;)

To be honest, I'd not thought about that, it would probably use an existing orifice.....Don't ask me which one now? >:D ;D

This topic is seriously deteriourating!!!
I like it!

Tinkerbell, If men had to go through a period, all hell would break loose, the liquor stores would be empty as half of them would try to drink their tears away and the other half would be too macho to admit they had them.
