It's a part of Mother Nature going to the bathroom. But for the transgender community in Maine it is becoming a constant battle.
There's a new proposed bill that could ultimately violate transgendered people's right to choose which public restroom they use. The proposed bill LD 1046, sponsored by Rep. Kenneth Fredette, R-Newport, would allow the operator of a restroom or shower facility in that state to decide who can use which gender's restroom based upon "biological sex".

There is no such thing as biological sex. With new research they have begun to determine that its not XX that makes a woman nor is it XY that makes one a man, but rather the interplay between the two chromosomes. The mere existence of XY women (CAIS) who are not only "biologically" male but have been have 100% women's bodies and are able to have their own children without medical assistance in a few documentation cases however most are invitro. One can easily contest the term biological sex in any court of law if they so wished once this documented information is presented.
Regardless. Unless I'm carded, forcing my identity to be revealed, I have no intention of using anything other than the female's restroom, be it illegal or not.
Reminder to myself -- do not go to Maine with my eldest daughter until she can quit calling me "dad" in public!!
